Note that young Democratic candidates are tending to be vocal Christians. Alexandria Ocasia-Cortez, Connor Lamb, Abby Finkenauer, Ammar Campa-Najjar, Jess King (even though she has no chance now) and some state legislative candidates I've heard of. Kind of flies against the stereotype of liberal Millennials being mostly "new atheist" types.

Those are candidates, not the general population. Research shows that religion is declining in America and that the young especially are irreligious. This is heightened with liberal and Dem voting young people.

Most young people in general aren’t “New Atheist” types and neither are young democrats. The New Atheist ideology of Dawkins and Hitchens to go out and argue over religion is seen as being neckbeardy af and just as obnoxious as when evangelicals try to proselytize people in public.

Obviously no, but why does Jess King have no chance?

With young liberals being among the least religious demographic, for those of that group who are religious it may feel more like something that distinguishes them, giving them more of a unique identity and something that is more notable from the outside - as opposed to some middle aged Republican from South Dakota where being religious is more of the norm.
They may also find their religion motivating in terms of their political action, and may give them a political opening to a wider audience than available to those who are non-religious.

Listing the names of a few politicians does not seem to be very persuasive evidence one way or the other for the proposition. In 2014 Pew's survey suggested that the young are less religious than older age groups. Another survey suggesting the same thing is here.
