Have to say his Origins of Political Order is a pretty strong overview and argument for "liberal development" theories but he'll be unfortunately remembered for end of history arguments about liberal democracy that has shown to be inaccurate. I am not a big fan of macrohistorical theories in general because they can be used and abused by political entrepreneurs.
