This thread seems to have disappeared for some reason? But I thought it was interesting, so I'm bringing it back.

Ironically, I think we have extremely similar views despite ostensibly being on opposite sides of the political center. If I had to guess it would probably be government intervention in times of economic crisis, but I'm not actually sure how much Goldwater is against that. Otherwise, maybe he's more hawkish than I am, despite the fact that I'm probably more hawkish than your average Dem.

EDIT: Actually probably some random SJW niche issue that I subscribe to.

I can’t think of anything in particular on which we disagree, but I assume it’d be our stance on economics.

View of capitalism as “inherently oppressive economic system” versus it as “merely a mechanism for resource distribution that can be tweaked and variously interpreted”, is likely the big one.

And seriously, what the actual hell? The old thread is completely gone, no explanation.

It had slipped my mind to confess, and I am deeply sorry for both this and the actions described herein. While on my phone, I accidentally deleted one of the two threads (either this, or the "biggest similarity" one). I had meant to hit the "back" button on my browser, tapped something, saw a menu asking "okay" and clicked that, thinking nothing of it (on your phone, you may be on a sort of unthinking scrolling autopilot) until I realized the thread was gone. I know more is demanded of me as a moderator and I hope the community can forgive this. Had I been on my laptop, I'd like to think I would have addressed the situation right there, but regardless, I did not.

So long as there’s a class of people compelled to sell their labor in exchange for monetary rewards worth less than the value of their labor’s production, then yes, I’ll consider it an “inherently oppressive economic system.” Especially when this socioeconomic arrangement largely arose from a foundation of stripping people of their access to self-sustainable work and forcing them into wage slavery labor.

I didn’t realize what I said were “fighting words”. (EDIT) But, for the record, my response to the above is “eh”, and I have generally the same view of socialism.

Chill overall with Oregon Libertarians, but have some issues with Arizona style Libertarians....
