Short answer--Why bother (see Hillgoose above)

Long answer--Coal power plants are going to keep closing, WV mines are going to keep declining and shut down as the coal gives out, even the met coal mines (a major one will close this week for "geologic reasons").  Fat Nixon can lie to them all day, it doesn't change reality.

Their population pyramid is totally fubar'd.  They have fewer people than they did in 1980.
They have fewer people than they did in 1950.  They have 262,000 people between the ages of 55-64 and 212,000 between the ages 10-19.  They had 30,000 births in 1980 and 18,500 last year.  They are not a magnet for and are in fact hostile to the idea of immigration.   They are a lock to have fewer people in 2050 than they do now.  They don't have a Senator who can drag stuff into the state like they once did.  They live in geographically difficult terrain where infrastructure is difficult to build and maintain.  There is no compelling reason economically to build and maintain such infrastructure.

Save for the Eastern Panhandle and Morgantown (and even Morgantown is iffy) there is no reason to expect anything different from West Virginia.  Why bother.

What

How the hell is this absurd and ignorant? Every word of that post is true, and it's backed up by facts and figures.

Politician refuses to believe that WV is full of bitter people who hate it when black people also get welfare money (that they feel should only go to “hardworkin’ folk”—aka white people) and especially hate it when black people kneel.

He is the kind of person IceSpear is talking about when mocking the socialist avatars for wanting to trade West Virginia for Colorado and Virginia.

Those two (Icespear and Politician) are locked in an endless arguments about that kind of stuff. Candidate quality vs fundamentals, leaving states like WV behind vs winning it back. Neither seem to understand that perhaps the best course of action is to stop, as neither will listen to the other, or agree to the rather obvious compromise that its might possibly be both Candidate Quality and Fundamentals.

As someone who 1) isn’t that socially liberal and 2) despises Trump for mostly far right economic policy and supports Democrats since they’re slightly less of corporate sellouts than the GOP and do not think it is wise to (even if there’s truth to it in varying degrees across the country) sh**t on rural areas and is probably considered by some (although PNM seems to like me) in the same group as one of those socialist avatars who want to trade VA for WV, that post was too substantive to belong here.

Politician has a hard time distinguishing between "post that is absurd and/or ignorant" vs. "post I disagree with." Or in this particular case "facts I dislike."

TBF, that is most of this thread.  Saying something as partisan as, "tax cuts can help spur economic growth" could get you thrown in here more or less on the basis that some leftie vehemently disagrees with you/thinks you're stupid, LOL.  Obviously many other opposite examples, too.

Well, Kamala Harris has the benefit of being "new" to the federal scene (even though she's been around for decades) and thus has less baggage that GOPpers can use against her. But she's also a woman of color from Cali so therefore she's a horrible person, totally against those poor working class whites, a total coastal elitist, and even though she doesn't have any particular tone or history of being condescending, you know deep down she's a condescending b***h. Because well... Atlas reasons.

But Joe Biden won't suffer from any of that. He's a good old working class guy who loves the working class and Middle America (even though he has spent his political career in a coastal liberal state) and talks about the issues that real Americans face, not silly issues like police brutality, mass shootings, income inequality, and transphobia. Those are SJW issues.

That's how people talk on this forum...

So, Hillary announced that she'll campaign with him to give him a "boost" and he's already dropping in support ... Roll Eyes

In reference to a poll that went from Gillum +1 pre irrelevant Hillary Clinton news story to Gillum +2 post irrelevant Hillary Clinton news story.

Meeks is better than Pelosi, politically. Yes, he may have some corruption and ethical issues, but he is aggressive and is a good TV debater.

Pelosi is 78 years old, slurs her speech sometimes. She should retire and be the Chair Emerita of the CA Democratic Party.

Speaker Meeks can give Trump hell in January, plus he would be a better alternative as a black speaker than Clyburn, who has been around for a long time, despite the fact that he is a cultural and social icon like John Lewis.

https://nypost.com/2012/12/23/no-victory-for-greg-meeks/

Let Meeks head the Democrats for two years. His base is crucial for Democrats (middle class black people in Queens-Nassau, and if the GOP did not bow to Trumpism they could have run neck and neck with middle class blacks.)

Okay, I honestly LOVE how Deplorable he is. Purple heart

He'd win at least 45 states in a Republican primary against any Atlas RINO and then get at least 45% of the vote in the general (and even more if his Democratic opponent farted in an elevator or something.)

In response to a poll showing a Democrat down 12 and many users (including many Red avatars) concluding it means the Democrat is an underdog:
Hackery never ceases to amaze. This poll is junk, and should be thrown away.

Two polls showing Heitkamp down by double digits? Damn. Lean R?

Safe R actually. Heitkamp might not lose by double digits, but unless Cramer is caught touching kids over the next month she's DOA.

But Atlas told me Cramer was finished because of his "Akin comments." LOL.

This one's over, as is the battle for control of the Senate. The Democratic Party's utter incompetence and supreme ability to grasp defeat from the jaws of victory never ceases to amaze me. They just HAD to give the GOP a rallying cry with their stupid Kavanaugh posturing, didn't they?

It's one thing to assert that Heitkamp is DOA. It's another thing to assert that Democrats are somehow dooming themselves by opposing Kavanaugh and somehow it's leading to their downfall, of which you have no real proof.  You frankly look like a troll.

My brain says 50-48 Cruz

My heart says 50-48 O'Rourke

Beto O'Rourke - 49.5%
Ted Cruz - 48.9%
Neal Dikeman and Write Ins - 1.6%

Race will end up within two points.

My brain says 50-48 Cruz

My heart says 50-48 O'Rourke
This is exactly how I'm feeling.

Posting it here was just meant as a joke. If for whatever reason you don't find it amusing, then I am sorry and apologize to you for that now (no need to wait until November).

Heitkamp being DOA = The Senate is gone = Dems screwed themselves. Pretty simple.

I hate to be the one to break it to you, but tens of millions of Americans vehemently disagree with the Democratic Party's Holy Crusade against the drunkard, and this includes a majority of the voting populace in deep red states that we were hoping to win.
