What if Democrat Jared Henderson decides not run against Asa Hutchinson after acknowledging to himself that he won't stand a chance against the governor, and Bill Clinton intends standing for the the Arkansas Governor's Mansion again (disregarding if he's eligible or not).
What percentage would Bill receive in the general election?

IIRC, something similar happened in the 2016 senatorial election in Indiana when Baron Hill dropped out in favor of Evan Bayh, who had held the intended Senate seat before.

He'd lose by at least 20 points. Racist AR Hicks are done with the Clintons in particular as well as the Democratic Party in general.

Clinton hasn't officially lived in Arkansas for two decades now, so he'd be eaten alive in today's environment.

Yeah, that turned out SO well for Bayh...

Isn't it kind of sad and ironic that the GOP could achieve their best gubernatorial election result in Arkansas this year? Cry

Funny enough it was the best for the Democrats in 2010 while Lincoln got blanched.

You're right! Shocked
That has to be one of the most extreme cases of vote-splitting in the whole electoral history.

He would lose by 15-20% instead of 20-25%.

Bill Clinton is probably held in lower esteem in his home state than any other former president in recent memory.

The only other case I can think of an ex-president's home state more or less avoiding association with him is California and Richard Nixon, which is obviously a special case.

He would be better off running to be New York's Governor.

That's is why Hillary lost, due to the fact she was considered a NYer, not a moderate.

Yes, she totally didn't lose to someone with a 58th floor penthouse on 5th Avenue.

True, but Trump will definitely be more hated in NY than Clinton is in AR.
