Baker getting 83% in Essex and polling better in Suffolk than Middlesex... I find that a little hard to believe. Still ridiculous how not competitive this is.

I'm now wondering if this guy is going to perform better than Bill Weld. Unlikely, but welp.

Yeah, I don't see Gonzalez doing that well in Middlesex if he's losing by 40 points statewide. Crosstabs are often weird though.

Only thing I can think is that Middlesex features one of the few nominally competitive congressional districts, which might drive up turnout. But that's still not necessarily something that favors Gonzalez, since I would think that'd just as well help Baker.

Democrats voters need to realize there are no moderate Republicans left.

That is categorically false. With this kind of attitude, you would have this country completely divided along partisan lines. That would only make matters worse.

If you don't think Baker is a moderate, then there never were moderates.  Quit romanticizing past Republicans to make your point in the present; it's tacky.

Charlie Baker should be the nominee of both parties, just as Earl Warren in 1946 in California.

I wonder whether Baker will get the highest share of any gubernatorial candidate this year? Looks like ends up in the 65-70% range.

Baker said that Kavanaugh should v withdraw and so did Hogan and Rauner

It's pathetic that common sense is what makes a "moderate" today.

"Common sense is my opinion!"

Not to mention that you - hopefully - know there are several other things that make Baker a moderate besides his opinion on one SCOTUS nominee.  Then again, can't miss a chance for a good GOP zinger.

I'm just saying that the bar should be higher than simply wanting to withdraw a scandal embattled Supreme Court nominee.

Baker's been center-right in a state that values checks on absolute power and he can't do any real damage on his own. It's typical of the state's constitutional conservatism that is diametrically opposed to current Republican dogma of unchecked power even of one who may well have conspired with a long-time foreign adversary.
