[quote]
"You cannot be civil with a political party that wants to destroy what you stand for, what you care about," Clinton told CNN's Christiane Amanpour. "That's why I believe, if we are fortunate enough to win back the House and or the Senate, that's when civility can start again."

"When you're dealing with an ideological party that is driven by the lust for power, that is funded by corporate interests who want a government that does its bidding, you can be civil but you can't overcome what they intend to do unless you win elections," she told Amanpour.

Well, yeah. A party that has been running around chanting 'Lock Her Up' for two years, she probably has come to the conclusion that they won't be civil to her. But the Democratic Party shouldn't look to her to represent them anymore.

Which party is she describing again?

Like her deplorable comment. Politically unwise to say publicly, but not wrong.

For her own sake, and the sake of her party, she really should just stop talking.

She's absolutely right.  And what she said is a massive understatement.

No mention of supporting sexual predators, torturing children, fake religion, grossly obvious hypocrisy, or worshipping stupidiy and ignorance... I guess she isn't talking about the GOP.

She's absolutely correct.

The Democrats try to "play nice" way too often, and usually lose.

This dismissive attitude of yours will do you little favor in winning over independent voters who are truly on the fence.

As for what Clinton said, I find it to be a sad commentary on the state of affairs in our politics. When we have come to the point that people in both political parties hate each other and wish for their opponents to be utterly and totally annihilated, then we have reached a point where democracy is not sustainable. Yes, this country has always been marked by partisanship and intense competition between the parties, but so long as such competition does not lead to violence or to breakdown of our values, we will continue to persist.
