Why would he? His Senate seat is safe for him no matter what, if he wants out he'll run for President.

If he wants to be Governor, sure. I don't have a telepathic connection with Tom Cotton.

If there’s one good thing Trump does, it’s probably saving us from Cotton being the nominee

Nah...but he will run for President in 2024.

I frankly think either Tim Griffin or Leslie Rutledge will be the Republican nominee, and they'll win the Governor's mansion barring a huge realignment of Arkansas politics (or Blanche Lincoln/Mark Pryor coming out of retirement).

That seems like a big downgrade.  Its not like Governor of California or Texas, its Arkansas...  If he wants to have a national profile I think he would stay in DC.

Hopefully... we would see him a lot less if her were out of the Senate!

That, and it’s tough to go from Governor of Arkansas to national figure without a lot of skill. Bubba and the Huckster are much more naturally talented pols than Tom Cotton is

A Cotton vs. Kanye primary would be the funniest thing that could happen.

The last Senator to try to go back home to gov to build a Presidential resume was Sam Briwnback, iirc.

The problem with being a governor is that you’re actually held responsible for bad things happening.

Trump will endorse Cotton if he's still alive at that point.

Yup.  The Senate-to-Governor pipeline is pretty much limited to larger states.

I could see it. Small state or not, serving as both a governor and a senator would boost his resume. He also wouldn't be the first legislator to decide that he wants to try being an executive. On the other hand, he's not too far away from becoming chairman of the armed services committee.

And it’s usually the opposite, with Governors then running for Senate

Cotton would be highly competitive in an R primary and a general.

Kind of hard to bomb Iran as a governor.

I can only hope, since he'd be off the national stage. He's easily one of my least favorite Senators, and that's saying something.
