And then you'll be asking why does no one trust America anymore. It's actions like this that directly undermine America's status as the global hegemon.

Perhaps because we have nothing to gain from deploying similar weapons? It's not like deploying a Pershing III or the like would be politically possible in NATO. All withdrawal does is give Russia a free hand in deploying the disputed weapons.

Trump probably thinks we can win a nuclear war.

Though that outcome is potentially far worse than a moderate MAD situation, where the world doesn't die but civilization and the ecosystem are alive albeit crippled for hundreds, if not thousands of years. In the former situation, I can see a "won" Trumpian nuclear war having the same ultimate results as the one at the end of the Turner Diaries. That is, a world that is heavily depopulated and the only civilization remaining are the "victors". All other civilizations and peoples  have either been exterminated or have devolved into small bands of hunter-gatherer bands of mutated creatures that live in irradiated deserts that were once the cities, forests, and farmland of their ancestors.

Great. So on top of everything else, this f***ing idiot thinks now is a good time to start a f***ing nuclear arms race. How about he stops listening to the human pile of s**t that is John Bolton for 5 minutes and realise how the world works?

And now, rather than using the Russian's violation as a diplomatic stick, Trump s going to give them license to do whatever they want. For the foreseeable future, the Russians will claim: a) they were never proven to be in violation, and b) that we, America, are the one who withdrew from the treaty and are actually at fault.

The Russian government is probably the only investor to ever get real value out of investing in Trump.

Trump probably thinks we can win a nuclear war.

What better way to corner the hotel industry than a nuclear holocaust? He can even put some bulldozers, materials and construction workers in underground bunkers so they are ready to begin working immediately after.

Trump Towers will then stand as beacons of light (and profits) over the otherwise desolate and charred countryside.

Somewhat relevant:

I never understood the right-wing hatred for arms control treaties. This has John Bolton written all over it.

Also notable that this treaty was arguably the most important concrete foreign policy accomplishment of Reagan's tenure.

Can we please drop the Trump (R-Moscow) meme now? Trump hasn't been pro-Russia in any way (and that's a good thing obviously, we need to teach the Russians some lessons). The only reason why he keeps attacking the Russia investigation is because any Russian interference in the 2016 election would put a huge strain on his 2016 victory, and his self-inflated ego can't stand the idea that he himself wasn't the only one responsible for his ''victory''. Other than that he doesn't care about Russia or Putin at all. He's been an useful idiot at best for destroying America's reputation and driving the US and the EU apart (which will be fixed under the next president anyway), but when it comes to sanctions the Trump administration has been rather hawkish.

This can be pro-Russia. By pulling the US out, it gives the Russians the green light to develop new missiles.

Not a fan of this decision. Nukes give non-US militaries a leg up on our superior military. Proportional nuclear disarmament is in our best interest.
