What if it had been an American airline, with mostly American passengers, that had been shot down over Eastern Ukraine in 2014?  How would Obama have responded, and what kind of impact would it have on US-Russia relations in the subsequent years, including the Russia / Trump relationship?

I would have liked Obama to ask Congress for a declaration of war against Russia, but the fact is he would have capitulated to avoid a nuclear holocaust.

If you are suggesting Dick Cheney would have given the order to drop a nuke on Moscow, then I agree.

McCain wouldn't have done that. He had honor...and besides I don't think he would've run for a second term in 2012, on account of his age, and Palin's general lack of skills. My guess is Clinton wins in 2012 over Palin, and she's the one dealing with this mess.
