Curse the party if they don't airlift a pallet of cash into this within the next 2-3 days.

I'd argue it's closer to Burly Tilt R, but I'll concede to your superior experience. Either way the angle it's at is risking a quick transformation into Pratfall R.

You shouldn't concede to his superior experience, he thinks WV is Lean R because of Trump and GOP internals Tongue

The fact that you think a competitive gubernatorial election in a state that has had the same party in the governor's mansion for about 40 years is "nothing to see" is interesting.

Nice to see a moderate, pro-life Dem doing well. He's got quite the life story, too.

I always love to see competitive races in states that usually only vote for one party. And this kind of came out of nowhere all of a sudden. So exciting!!

Would be super odd if Sutton wins and Heitkampf loses.

Remember when Noem was supposed to be a "rising star" of the GOP?

Funny thing is, I read a timeline where Anthony Brown became a Democratic "rising star".

BTW:

How do you Americans pronounce "Kristi Noem" ?

No-Emm ?

Or just one word: Nome ?

I'd pronounce it Nome.

I think you're right. That's how I pronounce it too. And it would be amazing if she gave up her safe House seat for nothing. I don't want to get my hopes up though.

It is in fact pronounced Nome (or gnome, as I like to think of it).

What is wrong with a pro-life Democrat. Must all be Democrats be pro-choice? If he were pro-choice, I doubt he would be doing this well in the polls.

I don't have a problem with him being pro-life as long as it doesn't seep into how he governs.

That is a fair enough position. I would assume that as a Democrat, he would be preferable to the Republican in any case.

That's the ideal stance of anybody who self-identifies as pro-life. I call it the Tim Kaine compromise-being personally pro-life but simultaneously understanding that reproductive rights are an important part of female autonomy. There is room for this type of governance in the Democratic Party and remains distinct from anti-choice pusuits like we see from the GOP.

Finally a close election in SD again, it’s been a while. Toss-up, and not sure why people are surprised by this.

Not a surprise at all for me at least. I've been thinking this race is competitive for a while.

Yeah, me too. Maybe Sutton will be this year's Heidi Heitkamp. Tongue

It certainly helps that he is really religious and libertarian-leaning.

Libertarian-leaning? How so?

I am not pro-choice, but I've come to recognize at this point that this is a losing issue, and that women will get their abortions regardless of what I say or do. Hence, such a compromise is a necessity.

That's not a compromise stance. That's called being pro-choice.
