Well, there's also the Safavid Empire available, or alternatively Luther, Boyar Moscow, Ethiopia, the Crimean Khan or one of the Princes Electors. Would any of them appeal to you?

Well, I hoped that, given that the Papal States were a playable country while the HRE crown now, I'd continue as a successor had Leo X bit the dust, but since it's impossible... honestly, I don't know what to do.
