An important detail to take into account is that the 1519 Imperial Election is yet to be held, and it will be a special event during the first few days of the turn. That, the fact that Austria didn't to Ferdinand until a few years from 1519 and the relevance of actually having Charles being played are reasons as to why Ferdinand/Austria aren't playable.

In any case, it's encouraging to see that we have ten players already! I hope we can get started soon.

In my humble opinion, Dereich would be the most suited to take this role.

For the reasons I stated in my post, I don’t consider it that appealing a role right now. I’d only take it Lumine was unable to find someone capable of playing Charles; he’s absolutely necessary for this game.

My apologies. I felt it necessary to send one preliminary PM before it was officially rolling.

Mostly I'd like to avoid a scenario like the one we had with the English Civil War game, that being that an absolutely crucial role (Charles I of England) takes either too long to be filled or ends up being a problem for the game itself. I'm not entirely sure of who to ask, really, considering some potential players have expressed being incredibly busy lately. I'd be grateful to hear recommendations on who to contact.

Alternatively (and I hate to suggest this because rearranging things would be a pain), one thing I can do is to try and alter the setting up to a point, but it would have to be on a relatively close time frame and I would consider it more of a "nuclear option" as we have a large player base seemingly pleased with the roles they applied to.

Thank you for that offer, Dkrol! Should a player be interested in the switch I would certainly do my best to offer some kind of compensation (such as reserving a character for another game, or something else you might be interested on).

Gentlemen, we have a bit of an issue. The Ottoman Empire is open once again, so it would be important to seek a player or see if someone (outside the other main four countries) would like to switch.

I do think the Ottomans are just rather relevant to the game, so I wouldn't quite want to start without them. Any ideas?

Due to a request that was given very careful consideration, I'm allowing a player switch (Kalwejt) from Sweden to the Papal States. While an unusual situation I certainly hope it will benefit the game, considering the relevance of the Papacy on the events that are to come.

The switch is considered done after this point, Papal Crises will be up and Sweden will carry on as an NPC.
