It may be one of the last WASP conservative Northeast bastions not only in Nassau County, New York, and America in the Trump era where Republicans are losing suburban areas due to the political realignment of the GOP as a predominately white working class exurban and rural party.

Garden City voted for Rob Astorino for governor, Wendy Long for Senate and Donald Trump for President!!

Probably the wealthy Italian American types making more than $250,000+ in income. I wonder if they care about the SALT deductions, they may still vote for Molinaro and other GOPers despite.

There's one census tract in Garden City that's 45% Italian. That's even higher than some Staten Island tracts. There's another that's 32% Italian. Even as you get closer to Hempstead, it's 20% Italian.

One problem for Molinaro in Italian-American areas is that Cuomo is an Italian-American, too. There may be some that vote Cuomo. Other GOPers might do better than Molinaro.

Garden City has always been one of the most Republican areas on Long Island.  It is wealthy, white Italian and doesn't have many Jews.   Despite Trump winning, it did swing pretty hard against him.
