Will the Court strike down independent redistricting commissions established by referenda at some point in the future? The most recent relevant case afaik was Arizona State Legislature v. Arizona Independent Redistricting Commission, where a 5-4 majority upheld the constitutionality of the Arizona redistricting commission, which had been established by a ballot initiative.

The obvious solution for reformers is for Congress to impose 50 independent redistricting commissions, which it unambiguously has the authority to do.

This is imo a really good idea for congressional elections, but I'm assuming it wouldn't apply to state legislative elections?
