Maybe I don't know what I'm talking about but I guess this isn't going to help her quest to become speaker.

Lance Mason was an Ohio state court judge who was removed from the bench and ultimately convicted and sent to prison for brutally beating his wife in 2014. She divorced him. Marcia Fudge wrote this letter asking that he be treated leniently by the prosecutor. He was later released after serving only nine months.

Just this past week, Lance Mason apparently murdered his now ex-wife.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/crime-law/2018/11/19/former-judge-brutally-assaulted-his-wife-now-shes-dead-hes-been-arrested/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.30fc0649418c

It's a bit of a gotcha, but it's always been clear that Fudge is a consummate player of the insider game and will support bad apples for power.

I honestly think Fudge's support of Mason is worth primarying her over and is a bigger deal than her challenge to Pelosi. Mason allegedly beat his wife so badly she needed reconstructive surgery, and this occured on front of their small children. Fudge, who had served as director of the office of the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor, implored the office she used to work for in the above letter to give him a light sentence. Well, he got a light sentence, got out and allegedly killed his wife and injured a cop while escaping. This is a big deal and shows a ridiculous lack of ethics, critical thinking, decency, leadership, etc on Fudge's part. She is not a leader and doesn't deserve to be one, IMO

Details on the case here: https://www.politico.com/story/2018/11/20/fudge-letter-criminal-case-1008215

JD should run Nina Turner. It's a perfect opening for them

Oh please Rep. Rice! Your "concern" is that she is actually going to have some guts and stand up to crazed right wing republicans? Go Pelosi, screw "No Labels".

They better start running candidates who support single payer, TF college, police reform, getting out of Afghanistan, Carbon tax, $15 minimum wage. That's all I care. Enough of these loser "moderates". The D Trending suburban voters, are highly educated and realize these things can work! No one's going to vote R because "MUH SINGLE PAYER IS SOCIALISM". Those people would have voted R anyway!

And that Saudi arabia shill Hoyer who opposes ending the funding of the massacre of innocent Yemeni civillians? It makes my blood boil! We need to primary him and show him the consequences of supporting such disgusting actions!
Sorry for the ranting y'all, I'm just so sick of these people lol

Because Barbara Lee is a hero and she's the most anti war progressive member of congress. That's why I support her! Kareem Jeffries doesn't come close!!!!!

There should mass protests outside of D.C.! A corporatist hack like Jeffries is no progressive and we should let the neoliberal democrats know we will not accept this kind of corporatism anymore!

For Bernie bros anyone who's to the right of Lenin is a corporate sellout and worse than Hitler.
For Landslide Lyndon, anyone who is to the left of joe lieberman is like Lenin

I stand by that Bustos should not be dccc chair as she in a fast trending Trump district

Its not really trending anymore so to the Republicans, and it only voted for Trump by 1.

Uh, yes it is? Pritzker only won Rock Island, he lost everything else in the district.

New rule: You don't get to dictate my party's leadership when you spend more time trying to own Bernie than Trump.

Kareem Jeffries better be as anti war as Barbara Lee is. I'm going to be enraged even further if he isn't.

And Bustos and Maloney were the only ones who ran for DCCC chair? God I hate my party. Now we'll get more lame boring mushy middle centrists for house. I don't know much about CCM(new DSCC chair). She seems okay I guess.

And I agree with lfromj, now the NRCC will paint her as "caring more about the Pelosi democrats then the people of this district" yada yada. You know, the kind of rhetoric these idiot "swing voters" like. And barring a D landslide, Trump will definitely carry this in 2020. Rurals are trending R and Rock Island doesn't seem to be moving back to it's previous Double  Digit Dem victories. So she's now made herself more vulnerable

"Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) beat Rep. Terri Sewell (D-Ala.) for the caucus representative post, a job reserved for a member who has served five terms or less. Sewell's loss, combined with Lee's defeat Wednesday, leaves Democrats without an African-American woman in their leadership ranks."

Source: https://www.politico.com/story/2018/11/29/busto-house-democrats-campaign-arm-1027901

That's kinda crazy considering how important Black women are to Democratic electoral success.

Here's a full list of leadership for the next two years:

Speaker: Nancy Pelosi
Majority Leader: Steny Hoyer
Majority Whip: Jim Clyburn
Caucus Chair: Hakeem Jeffries
Assistant Majority Leader: Ben Ray Lujan
Caucus Vice Chair: Katherine Clark
DPCC Chair (a new, separate position from the DPCC Co-Chairs, apparently): David Cicilline
DPCC Co-Chairs: Ted Lieu, Debbie Dingell, and Matt Cartwright
Caucus Representative: Jamie Raskin

Wow.

With the defeat of Sewall to Raskin, the CPC controls every leadership position besides the big three(though Pelosi was a former member). Thats insane.
Thrilled Raskin defeated sewell, I couldn't stand her and he's definitely a great progressive.

So I did some research on this Jeffries character, and the guy really is an a**hole.  He opposed Medicare for All, in addition to all the other horrible, "moderate" positions he holds.  And he's pretty much fully funded by big money.
The position he won is stupid, so I don't really care that he won, but please stop calling this clown a progressive.  He's anything but.

It's politicians like this guy that make people lose interest in politics.
But zaybay told me he was  a "progressive"

There is nothing wrong with running Feehan or Londrigan again in races that were decided by less then 1%, lol. Just because it doesn't fit your racist hick narrative doesn't mean it can't happen.
Both are useless
MN 1st is safe r.
Il 13th can just add st Clair in 2022 to make a D leaning district so why waste money
No kidding. Hagedorn is a joke and he won in a D wave year with Walz's native son effect on the ballot. The seat is gone. IL-13 is Likely R but I could see Londrigan winning if Trump loses badly(which is possible)

FYI tim walz barely carried his own district and his opponent came from the Twin cities. If a 6 term incumbent can barely carry his own district in a double digit romp in a blue wave year it's gone.it's not a racist hick theory it is just fundamentals. It's safe r .

I dont think Safe R means what you think it means. If you want to give it a rating, its lean R.
Likely r at best. Trying to compete in this is like competing in deleware at large in 2012. Feehan isn't even that great a candidate besides being a veteran. He is part carpetbagger I think.

So, doesnt that mean that if Ds fielded a better candidate, it would have stayed blue? Doesnt that mean its not likely R?

I get you like the racist hick argument, but
1. There is much more nuance to it
2. This district, along with the 13th of IL, isnt going to suddenly just become Safe R territory because the Ds didnt win it in 2018(especially considering the margin was very, very, narrow)
Feehan wasn't the best candidate and I think a better candidate could have won there and maybe my safe r rating is a bit of an exaggeration but imo it's not a very durable district that Dems can hold in 2022. It isn't worth dumping money there when helping mj Hegar and Ortiz jones win is a much better idea. The same goes for the GOP. They shouldn't waste money trying to regain texas 7th and ga 6th and instead go for  districts like bustos
Agreed
