BALLOTS IMPOUNDED IN NM 2nd.

Probably a nothingburger but I would keep an eye on it.

Link

This is ridiculous. Torres-Small won by 4000 votes - there are literally dozens of races that were closer.

I'm sure the republicans nagging on Bill Nelson and Andrew Gillum for allegedly being sore losers will have a lot to say about this.
Mind you I said both were sore losers

Gillum perhaps, but why Nelson?  The big undervote in Broward did raise a plausible possibility of machine error that could have affected the outcome, and it was perfectly reasonable to wait until it was checked out with a manual recount (which was mandated by state law anyway due to the narrowness of the margin).  After that was resolved, Nelson conceded.  How is any of that being a sore loser?

I meant Herres and Gillum
Nelson wasn't really sore as there was a small chance that he could win based that there was an error.
but Gillum had no reason to unconcede when there was no way a machine recount fixes that.

RIP Governor Lopez-Cantera
Interesting that he’s giving up seniority.

Weird that he'd wanna cost himself good committee posts but if his end goal is to wind up at a different address in 6 years' time, then that may not be a big deal for him.

Maybe 2024 will have Rubiobot 3.0 with a new software update to fix the repeating the same slogan over and over again running against Rick Scott for the Republican nomination?

In CA-49 the Democrat won by more than 12 percentage points!!!  Issa knew what he was doing when he decided to retire.

Remember when Issa was supposedly leading by double digits in his internals and only retired to spend more time with his family?

Yes, some Atlas posters literally believed this.
Link me to it plz I want a laugh.

Does anyone know when PA certifies its results? I saw the #s changed a bit over the past week or two, assuming it was extra absentees and provisionals. Wasn't sure if it was all wrapped up yet though.

Tbh somebody should sticky a thread for states certifying their results.

In other news, VEP turnout has now passed 50% in Prof. McDonald's turnout Excel sheet:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1tal3fAaKnEj_7Yy_7ftrNg4dJy4UxGk3oKSd3uPb13Y/edit?usp=sharing

Only a handful of states still have no official/certified results.

At some point after tomorrow, because the election calendar in PA says:

Do you think there's enough interest for that to be stickied at the top? I have my doubts.

At the very least, there'd probably be more interest for that than the "2020 House polls" sticky, which has gotten about 5 posts total in the last 3 weeks. Tongue

So, do we think Scott is giving up seniority because he hates Lopez-Cantera for some reason, or because there's something corrupt that he wants to do that he can only do at the very tail end of his term?

An update from MS:

MS has now certified the results of the regular Senate election.

Compared with the NYT election page, Sen. Wicker (R) gained another 30.000 votes since election day and Baria (D) gained another 25.000 votes.

The margin therefore narrowed by 0.7%, from 58.8-39.1 on election night to 58.5-39.5 in the official results.

http://sos.ms.gov/elections/electionresults/2018General/Certified%20Results/United%20States%20Senate.pdf

That means that the 1st round between Espy and Hyde-Smith (originally 41.5-40.6) was basically a tie in the official results, but this was not certified yet.

And for the runoff (H-S +8%), it probably means that she'll end more with a 7% margin in the final results.

Is he actually bankrupt either? I haven't heard that anywhere except as the Atlas meme.

Why nobody in the media talks about the first Filipino-American elected in congress?

CA, OH and OR have finished their vote counting.

OH and OR have already certified their results, while CA will review for another week and certify on Dec. 14th.

That only leaves CT, MD, MS*, NY, PA, SD, TN and WV without official results.

MS actually has official results already for all elections except the special Senate election, which will likely be certified together with the runoff results next month.

MS has now certified the results of the Senate runoff:

53.63% Hyde-Smith, Cindy (R)
46.37% Espy, Mike (D)

Link

... but surprisingly, they did not certify the results of the primary yet ... Tongue
