A genie makes a deal with you that Donald Trump gets re-elected in 2020 and Mike Pence gets elected president in 2024 and 2028. In exchange, the Democrats win every single election aside from those elections.

Do you take it?

Well if it's a genie I'm gonna assume the Democrats in question are all Bloomberg Republican-lite clones, so no.

As a Republican, that's a safe no. Democrats, after winning every election following 2028, could just reverse everything done by Trump/Pence. It's not worth it.

oh yeah a 100-0 senate. Trump sure can do a lot. Any democrat would accept this and no republican would accept it.

As a Democrat or really as anyone on the left, you would have to be certifiably insane not to take this deal, because if it means winning everything at the state-level too, you'd have an unprecedented chance to turn this country into something fundamentally different. Constitutional amendments could be made with ease, and presidential vetoes could be overridden whenever you want.

Donald Trump wins reelection in 2020. However, the 435 Democratic members of the House begin impeachment proceedings shortly afterwords and the 69 Democrats in the Senate push through his impeachment as well as that of Mike Pence in favor of Speaker Pelosi. Mike Pence is elected in 2024 and 2028, but is removed from office on his inauguration day along with his Vice President on the grounds of "we feel like it." A constitutional amendment is passed banning the Republican Party with the backing of every state legislature, as all are now unanimously controlled by the Democratic Party. At this point, every political office from local dogcatchers to the presidency outside the judiciary (at least the non-elected part) is run by Democrats.

Sounds like a decent enough deal if you're a Democrat.

Might as well have them impeach the judiciary if they're going that far already.

The New Free State recognizes no organization as patriarchal and fascist as a “judiciary.”

You amend the constitution to strip the President of the power to nominate Judges. The 100% Dem legislature appoints all the Judges.

I'd absolutely take that. Having all Senate seats, all House seats, all governorships, and all state legislatures would make the President totally irrelevant.

Agreed. I'd take that too, but I want there to be variety among the Democrats. There should liberal Dems, centrist Dems, conservative Dems, and Libertarian Dems to create more balance and diversity of ideas.

I would take that deal even for 240 House seats, 55 Senate seats, and no Republican trifecta in States totaling 75% of the population (with Democratic trifectas in, say, 40%).

So basically keep things exactly as they are but just extend the letter in front of the name to everyone.

Dems don't want anymore GOP judges on the Crt after Trump. Sems will win in 2020, due to the Senate map, VA favoring Dems. So, Dems are gonna win, anyways

No. Obviously the former is much more likely than the latter, and that's too big a cost to give up for certainty.

Hell, I’d probably vote for the both of them to make sure the deal comes through.
