Well, Hiram Johnson or Charles Hughes will probably take the GOP nomination. Charles Joseph Bonaparte or Nicholas Butler will probably take the second slot.

I'm hoping for Hughes he stands up more for all sides of the coin, Johnson is too cozy with the progressives.

Hughes is a better, more likeable candidate. Hiram is too contentious, and antagonistic. Hughes is a proper gentleman, and beloved by all. He can bring together the right and left of the party by being flexibly in the middle.

I'm a little uneasy about a Supreme Court Justice running, to be honest.

Look, in my opinion, Hughes is a little wishy-washy on the war. I've got friends fighting and dying over in France. Speaking as someone who will likely have to over there at some point, I'd feel a lot safer if I knew the US would eventually intervene on our side.

I want Fairbanks more than Hughes or Johnson, even if it's unlikely he gets the Nomination. I just believe someone who was the VP for Roosevelt and not having Rosevelt's, err, arrogant personality, is the best way to defeat Wilson in November.

Wilson and Johnson are too similar

Will any candidate endorse a constitutional amendment to give women the right to vote nationwide?

Why? Women can vote here in South Australia.

If God had intended women be able to vote then he would have told the founding fathers to install it in our constitution

And while you're debating that, people are dying by the thousands in France.

Why should we send American boys to die in a war that we have no bearing in

The people who sent them there knew the risk of them going. They were sent into a warzone! We should be mad at the people who sent them, not the Germans. We would have done the same thing if the shoe was on the other foot.

Meanwhile, two hundred thousand Germans - our own blood and kin - have been starved by the British blockade. Our most profitable trade partner, the British Empire, has blocked off the second most profitable. By this, they have tied us ever closer to them and ever further from the Germans. A majority of Americans in Pennsylvania, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Kentucky, North Dakota, and South Dakota, and many other places besides, are immigrants within several generations from Germany. The British have killed 200,000 Germans by keeping us from trading with them. The Germans have killed 100 Americans on a ship not flying an American flag. Which is the greater evil?

Let me assure: Should this not stop, the British will kill many tens of thousands of German children, and cause malnutrition of hundreds of thousands more. This kind of trade warfare is designed only to starve the common people, and ought not be conducted by any civilized nation.

If only Debs had been nominated again instead of run for Congress. Allan Benson is such a weak candidate.
