Hello and Happy Thanksgiving! I apologize for being late with my initial statement here but it's literally Thanksgiving so I trust you will all understand the delay Smiley

I think the depth of my knowledge of Atlasian law speaks for itself, as does my lengthy record of experience. I have worked in many, many major trials over the years -- with a strong win record -- and thus have ample firsthand experience crafting a significant portion of Atlasian jurisprudence. Under the alias of BACON KINGMAN, ATTORNEY AT LAW, I also believe that I operate the oldest legal practice in all of Atlasia.

Pardon the brevity, but again, this is thanksgiving - I am with my extended family for the rest of the evening. I look forward to answering any questions you all may have!

I do urge my colleagues in the Senate to confirm this man as Attorney General. Bacon King is one of the smartest minds in terms of atlasian law.

Thank you for such a generous compliment! Smiley

BK endorsed 100%.

He's deeply qualified for this job and even if he hasn't been running for offices etc, he's aware of the recent court cases as I usually bragg about it to him.

I have a question if y'all don't mind.

You aren't taking this job just for well, let's say "chaos purposes", are you?

'I echo my former VP's question.

The office of Attorney General is charged with the equal enforcement of Atlasian law and while your history of experience with the Atlasian law is not in doubt, your history of manipulating it to achieve as he termed it "chaos" is just as long? Can the citizens of Atlasia depend on your impartiality and fairness as Attorney General?

The other important question that comes to mind is one of activity. The office of AG doesn't require consistent presence, but it is an office where one finds themselves on call. Therefore someone whos presence can be obtained after a period of inactivity in a timely fashion. Can the citizens of Atlasia depend you being available to carry out this task, in light of your history of shall we say "falling away" activity wise.

I have the utmost respect for the nominee, but the fact that we have gotten to a point where we no longer ask questions of our nominees is pretty disturbing. While this is ancient history, one of the reasons I first ran for the Senate was outrage over the handling of Keystone Phil's confirmation as Attorney General, and considering he later tried to cease control Alexander Haig style, I think concerns were warranted.

Thank you both for the questions -- as Senator Yankee notes, questioning nominees is the sign of a healthy and productive legislature.

My days of causing "chaos" and pulling various sorts of shenanigans have passed. I've long since decided to let every Atlasian just enjoy themselves -- after all, once I literally forced two presidential candidates to share their entire term, any further stunts just wouldn't compare (and even then, I only was only ensuring the laws as written were properly enforced!) I will be impartial and fair -- and I will refrain from orchestrating ridiculous situations to prove a point about poorly-written laws.

I will also be active: I waited until now to jump back into Atlasia because 1. I was very busy during campaign season irl, managing a state senate campaign; and 2. I needed a few weeks to relax and recover after the election before taking on any new  responsibilities, because I worked many many hours for many months on that campaign and I needed to recharge.

I'll be active and diligent in office -- being a campaign manager has greatly improved my time management skills! Grin I'll check the forum daily, and I'll be able to set aside at least a couple of hours per day on a 24hr's notice (for like a big trial or something). Furthermore if something huge comes up that would cause me to become inactive, I pledge to immediately resign so a replacement can be selected and confirmed, rather than just, you know, going missing for weeks or whatever.

There will of course be exceptions -- I won't be around much during holidays (why i was so late in responding to your questions, for example) so I will have minimal activity around christmas.

Any comment on the latest suit from Lincoln?

I don't think it's appropriate to publicly comment on a case I'll soon be directly involved in Smiley

(sorry for the lack of a response, I thought "i shouldn't comment on this" without actually saying so, sorry if that held up the process)

Any comment on the latest suit from Lincoln?

In the interests of full disclosure, note that I have now commented on the latest suit from Lincoln... but only concerning the technicality of how the case should be named Tongue

Can the petitioner be changed to another name. I don't see any regional aspect to the case so why use Lincoln name when you can use any citizen.

historically stuff like "standing" and the technicalities of who is suing on behalf of who has been brushed but I agree that the petitioner probably shouldn't be listed as a regional government unless they are a member of the regional government acting in their official capacity (or a third party delegated by such official). If anything it sounds like it's most accurate for the Game Moderator to be listed as the official plaintiff although the GM's direct involvement in the legal system in such a manner, even if in name only, would be quite unorthodox (and unless I'm forgetting something, it hasn't happened since literally 2006!)

Typically in this kind of situation the person filing the suit is considered the petitioner and official listed party in the lawsuit (and historically, multiple cases known for example as 1184AZ v Atlasia would be just listed using Roman numerals (e.g. the fourth time I sued the government of the "Dirty South" under DWTL, it was called "Bacon King v Southeast IV".

This is not exactly consistent with IRL legal terminology but potential alternative nomenclature could perhaps be "In re Executive Order #005 or something to that effect.
