I will be hosting a debate between the four Senate candidates for Fremont starting soon. The election itself will be held on the 30th to 2nd - at the end of the month. This is the commentary thread where anyone can comment on the debate.

The candidates are:
- Former MP KoopaDaQuick of the Federalist Party.
- Incumbent Secretary of State Lumine.
- Nerd73 of the Progressive Union.
- Former Senator and Speaker Pericles of the Labour Party.

This is the commentary thread, the debate is here: https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=307613.0

You declared candidacy before canis resigned, so you're a candidate for the regular December election, not the special election.

Based on how I’ve handled special elections, saying you’re running for senate has gotten you on the ballot.

But he declared before the election existed so he couldn't have declared for the special.

Too many bills waiting to be introduced to the Fremont Parliament. Plus, I prefer Regional politics to Federal politics.

I like to think Galaxie actually just crashed into the building on a boat in between questions.

Just putting out there that candidate Pericles is 100% wrong in claiming I had anything to do with the POWER Act. If I recall, it passed right around the time I started actively playing the game. I didn't write any of it, and I didn't even comment on either debate thread for it:

https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=273240.25

Just because I was the first to realize the implications it had towards the legality of agency fees does not mean I am responsible for passing it. 4 lefties in the senate and several in the House (including a lefty law student) passed it. And legally even if you do "repeal" RTW laws, unions will have to refund 100% of any agency fee collected, so other than messaging its a dead issue unless the POWER Act provision barring compelled representation is also repealed.

So much for being the candidate of "so much good policy and good governance "

I believe Pericles performed best in this debate. While Lumine is a not a bad candidate, I support more of Pericles' positions, including those on RTW, the deficit, and defense spending. I think Pericles' closing argument and overall performance was stronger, with a strong focus on policies he has already implemented in the past and ones he will implement if elected and activity.
