Would Lee Atwater be rotting in jail or awaiting trial like his buddies Stone and Manafort if he were alive today? He worked at a firm with Manafort and Cohen, lobbying for 3rd world dictators and other nasty scumbags all over the world. As long as you had the cash, it didn't matter how many people you killed. Lee Atwater was a brilliant political strategist, but a nasty slime ball, even worse than Karl Rove. Lee Atwater died of a brain tumor in the early 90's.

I could see Lee Atwater loving Trump and joining the campaign and colluding with the Russians and then lying about it, no two ways about that.

Why not?  Trump has every incentive to. 

Even if Trump pardons Manafort, there are enough different crimes that he admitted to that could be applied under New York state law where a Trump pardon would be untouchable. Not sure about Stone.

Also with a pardon, Manafort and Stone would lose their 5th Amendment rights.

I don't see how. Any report exonerating Trump is obviously worthless. After all, he's spent the last two years telling us it's a fake witch hunt. The House should redo the whole thing in an impartial fashion.
