And finally, the sentencing:

Countdown to an immoral Trump pardon in 3,2,1...

I don't know about that; the sentence length seems very carefully balanced.  It's long enough to be a real punishment and send a message, while being below recommendations and short enough that criticism of it being too harsh (and thus justification for a pardon) would be kind of weak.

Yeah.  When you add in 24-months probation, mandatory drug-testing, and $20,000 USD in fines, it's a rather balanced sentence.

Anything below (six months to a year, for instance) would have led to outcries of being "too lenient".   And while I'm no fan of Roger Stone, I did think that 7-9 years was a *bit* on the steep side.

You are all aware that Roger Stone isn't going to serve a day of this sentence, or any sentence for that matter, aren't you?

They should impeach Trump again if he pardons Stone.

Mr. Trump is not running for reelection, he's running to stay out of prison.

Not a bad strategy given the Evangelical base of today's Republican Party.

Justice Department moves to drop charges against Russians indicted in the Mueller probe
Quote
The Justice Department on Monday moved to drop its case against 13 Russian nationals and three Russian entities who were indicted as part of the former special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russia's interference in the 2016 US election.

Clarification of what this means:

Trump’s Lawyer Threatens Michael Cohen as He Remains in Jail
Quote
This week, President Donald Trump's attorney Charles Harder sent a letter to Michael Cohen, the president’s imprisoned former lawyer and fixer, demanding that Cohen stop writing a “tell-all” anti-Trump book, two sources familiar with the matter told The Daily Beast on Friday. The sources noted that the letter, sent on behalf of the Trump Organization, cited Cohen’s non-disclosure agreement that he signed while working for the Trump family’s business empire.

Harder, who’s served as a personal attorney for President Trump and his family and reelection campaign in various capacities, did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Neither did the Trump Organization.

The news of the Trump Org’s legal threat against Cohen came the same day that the prisoner, who was due to be released from federal prison to house arrest on Friday, found that he will in fact remain behind bars, two people familiar with the situation told The Daily Beast.

Supreme Court Is Asked to Block House From Seeing Mueller’s Grand Jury Secrets
Quote
The Trump administration asked the Supreme Court on Thursday to block Congress from seeing grand jury secrets gathered in the Russia investigation by the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, saying the executive branch would suffer irreparable harm if lawmakers see the evidence.

Hopefully the Court follows the Watergate era precedent... "Both a Federal District Court judge ruled last fall, and a panel of the Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia ruled this spring, that impeachment is a judicial proceeding, following the Nixon impeachment precedent. But the Trump administration has delayed any sharing of the evidence by continuing to argue at each level that it is not."

Supreme Court grants Trump request to temporarily shield Mueller grand jury materials
Quote
The Supreme Court on Friday granted a Trump administration request to temporarily shield redacted grand jury materials related to former special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia probe from the Democratic-led House.

The order, signed by Chief Justice John Roberts, halts the disclosure of secret grand jury transcripts and exhibits that Democratic lawmakers had initially requested as part of the House impeachment inquiry into President Trump.

The move pushes back a lower court’s disclosure order on the materials, which was set to take effect Monday, while the justices consider the administration’s request for a longer delay.

That's pretty common for courts; if the point of the appeal is to prevent a release, then you stop the release from actually happening before it is fully considered. It's called a 'stay' and usually applies to actions that are pretty irreversible.

I agree. So far these particular moves are within normal bounds. (Even though the conduct they pertain to is both impeachable and criminal.) They are also noteworthy steps in the progression of the cases against Mr. Trump.

I read Trump's 125 tweets & retweets today. I know about the docs lol. Foxnews.com doesn't even have it as a top story.
