President Trump opts not to run for a second term, and after months of deliberation, so does Vice President Pence.

Mitt Romney wins the Republican nomination, and just like in 2012, selects Paul Ryan as his running mate.

Democrats, meanwhile nominate Kamala Harris, and she selects Tammy Baldwin.

Does the Republican ticket win, or even improve from their 2012 performance?

The Democrats nominated a bad (overrated) candidate in the form of Harris, so Romney could improve in some areas. But he'd still lose others, and still be the underdog.
