link to the ultimatum given to him by the Academy - Variety

Like Gunn and Rosey, he's properly appologized, and like them, the leaders of the witch hunt don't care unless they get their pound of flesh.  From Rolling Stone three years ago.

It was a f**ked up thing to say, and 2010 was not that long ago.

It's the right decision, and maybe it'll pressure the people that organize the Oscars into not hiring comedians.

Hasn't that been the tradition?

The tradition lately is that they hire comedians (Jimmy Kimmel, Ellen DeGeneres, Kevin Hart, Billy Crystal) to host.

Oscars should be hosted by a debonair elegant person to bring class to the event.  They went in the direction of trying to be funny and that got out of control.  It needs to return to its roots as a classy event focused on movies - Bob Barker would be better than any of these comedians.

I selected #1 though I have a quibble with the language. Gay jokes can be hilarious (I say as a gay man) but homophobic jokes are never ok. Being dicks to an entire people group because of an aspect of their lives you don't like but they can't (and shouldn't) change is, well, dickish. Additionally, advocating child abuse so your child conforms exactly to your idea of how gender should be is super dickish.

So, according to Atlas, it's ok to make rape and pedophile jokes, but not gay jokes?

It was a f**ked up thing to say, and 2010 was not that long ago.

It was easily long enough ago that, as Hart says, the culture was different. Comedy was, and still is, a very mean spirited business. Kind of ironic. It shouldn't be, but it is.

Hillary was still against gay marriage for example.  That's ok, she can be forgiven.  And according to Atlas, jokes about raping a child can be forgiven too.

but not a mild joke about not wanting your son to be gay, that's unforgivable!

wait, is this because Kevin Hart is black and Gunn and Hillary are white?  Is it the venue?  Do you think comedians on stage are somehow more needing of censorship than film directors on Twitter?  Is it a short people thing?

Ironically, he was trying to make a joke which bombed.

There is nothing wrong with what he said. Lighten up, Nancy. Such a disgrace. "The times weren’t as sensitive as they are now" is the greatest indictment of America and its fall during Obama's second term. Kevin Hart is so courageous. My heart aches for him.
