Atlasia is in a period of crisis. Unfortunately, in recent times, our representatives have let us down. It is time for a new kind of representation: an active one.

JaydonBrooks' stances on the issues

Activity (and lack therof) - Inactivity is one of the biggest issues facing Atlasia today. I pledge to resign immediately if I am ever incapable of doing my job, rather than forcing a messy recall just so voters can have an active representative. This is not a partisan issue, and I look forward to working with other parties to end our inactivity crisis.

Defense Spending - We need to decrease defense spending to the minimum necessary and focus more on domestic issues.

Deficit - In times of prosperity, we need to cut back on wasteful programs that have no use; however, when we face an economic crisis, it is crucial that we increase spending--in the right places.

Education - We need to increase education and reduce the amount of standardized testing in schools, instead encouraging personalized learning to help students progress at their own rate.

Energy & the Environment - We are damaging the environment with pollutants & carbon dioxide emissions and are endangering the lives of our future children by ignoring climate change. I support investments and/or subsidizing alternate energy technologies to reduce our carbon footprint, along with aggressive preemptive measures to combat the effects of climate change.

Foreign Policy - We shouldn't infringe on the sovereignty of other nations except in order to prevent crimes against humanity, genocide, or oppression of a democratic group under an authoritarian/totalitarian government.

Gun Control - Guns should never be banned, however it is necessary to enact some commonsense gun regulation, like more in-depth background checks and bans on high capacity magazines.

Infrastructure - Our infrastructure is slowly crumbling to pieces. We need a new infrastructure project to rebuild our roadways and bridges and to provide jobs for the unemployed, boosting our economy.

Taxes - We need to eliminate loopholes in the tax code that allow for the rich to avoid paying their fair share of taxes. For the poor and middle-class, it is important to lower tax rates; many people are living paycheck-to-paycheck. The rich, however, needs to take their share of the burden, and therefore, I believe in an increase in the amount of taxes for Atlasians that make over 5 million a year.

Voting for Lincoln Regional Elections will begin shortly. Despite a very last minute campaign, I hope you will vote for me as a write-in candidate. At this critical juncture point in Lincoln's history, we either elect representatives who are capable of doing their jobs well  or representatives who are inactive, retaining the status quo of our slowly dying region. I promise, if elected, to be the former.

Thank you all for supporting me, and I hope that by the end of this upcoming weekend, I will no longer just be an Atlasian citizen but also your representative.

Yes, Lincoln isn't in a good state right now, but I'd hardly characterize us as "slowly dying". The Assembly is more active than ever (on a sheer bills per week count, we're the most active regional Assembly in the nation since my colleagues and I took office two weeks ago), and some of this can in part be attributed to the annual December slump in activity. Furthermore, the old adage that "it can only go up from here" holds quite true in these scenarios. Tongue
