So in 2020, Gavin Newsom will be entering his second year as Governor of California, and he clearly has ambitions of being President someday.

However, could he make it onto the ticket in 2020?

Is there a candidate (other than Harris, who would be a good fit, if it weren't for the fact Democrats would have to sacrifice California's Electoral votes) who would fit well with Newsom as their running mate?

What states or constituencies (outside of Californians) would Newsom do best with?

And would a ticket with Newsom on it win in November?

Hell no, and this comes from someone who is totally baffled by why Atlas hates Newsom so much.

I’m fine with Newsom, but I’d rather have him as governor for 4-8 years. He shouldn’t try to run in 2020.

I don't understand what he would add to any potential ticket.

No he isn't. He would be a candidate in 2024, but Trump has a high vulnerability in 2020.

It wouldn't add too much to the ticket in 2020, though I see him as presidential material for cycles after 2020.

I don't get the dislike for him in this forum. He is a rock-solid Democrat with little baggage and will make a great governor of California. I very much like him, even more than Andrew Cuomo.

He's slimy af and was fairly right wing as mayor of San Fransico, pushing for charter schools, flipped flopped on HSR, tried to water down the cities sanctuary city policy. Of course, he has been drifting left lately, coming around to single payer, drivers licenses for illegals and legal weed,] but has been from the pro-business wing of San Fransisco.

Feinstein would be a better choice. An experienced Senator versus a Governor who hasn't even completed a term? Easy choice.

Sarah Palin hadn't completed a term as Governor and she got named to the Republican ticket in 2008...

He's been lt. governor for eight years and mayor of San Francisco. Not a small thing. Feinstein was around when FDR was in his first year in office.

How about none of our 4 terrible top Democrats from San Francisco (Newsom, Feinstein, Harris, and Pelosi) ever go near a Presidential ticket?
