Sure, but it's not on my priority list. I haven't even seen Kyrgyzstan yet.

No, there's nothing to do up there.

Lean yes ... learning about the "nitty gritty" details of actually being in space for a prolonged period of time doesn't exactly endear me to the idea, but it would be an experience I would regret passing up, I think.

I wanted, actually thought i was going to be an Astronaut as a boy.

Always smart and fit enough.

Became a geophysicist instead.

But i would do it tomorrow in a heartbeat.

Getting vapourized over Cape Canaveral is not something i would fear.

Being one of the first humans to explore the Solar System is the ultimate privelage.

Yes, with current technology, that would be pretty interesting. Actually I'd like to go to places that can't be reached by humans at this point such as Mars. Most interesting would be one of the (very far away) Kepler planets, that are supposed to be similar to earth. But it will probably never happen that humankind can get there.

and AS CHEAP, like when it's going to be as common as flying, and i don't think it will happen in my lifetime. I think space is fun, and that it's something i would like to do, but you shouldn't underestimate how hard it is to go into space. Of course, you could also just make suborbital flights in space or make expeditions to Mars. But to me, even if i had tens of billions of euro's today, i still wouldn't do it, as it serves no purpose to me. But if more people do it, and it's more accessible and environmental-friendly, why not? It just ain't going to happen in my lifetime and that's fine.

this was more of a "magic" ticket type situation, not a buy your own way.

Yes. To be somebody who has slipped the surly bonds of Earth & returned is a pretty unique club. It might be common place one day but for now, it'd still be a very special achievement.

I see no point. In the currrent day and age it would require intensive training and comes with a lot of risks.

Sorry I missed this thread when it first appeared, but wanted to answer.  Absolutely. Even in the '60's.  My first love as a young boy was astronomy, and the chance to see the shores of space and the earth first-hand, at least for a short time--maybe a trip of a dozen orbits or so, would be worth the risk for me.  An experience I strongly suspect pictures and videos can't begin to capture.
