Jeanne Shaheen Ad # 3
Washington, D.C.

John Edwards. He says he's for you, but on October 25, 2001 Edwards voted FOR the Patriot Act which limits YOUR civil liberties.

John Kerry and Hillary Clinton did, too.

Video plays; https://ytcropper.com/cropped/HY5c227ba5905c0

He voted for the Iraq War.

So did Kerry and Clinton.

With a record like that, can we really trust John Edwards?

We can flip the page with Jeanne Shaheen, - a bold vision for Washington DC.

She'll work with our allies to win the peace in Iraq and bring our troops home.

On January 13, 2004 vote Jeanne Shaheen for a Stronger, more Progressive America.

This ad was paid for by the National Organization for Women

Steve Garvey campaigns on energy independence in Iowa

As President I will stand up to the old politics as usual, to the special interests, to the lobbyists, the Big Oil companies.

We do not need to be as reliant on oil from Iraq and the rest of the Middle East and go ahead and work on improving our infrastructure and make sure that Amercia is a energy independence nation.

We will try our best to build and start projects to boost our own oil production without hurting anyone’s private’s property that is why I am proposing a natural gas pipeline to help lead America to energy independence without once again hurting for disturbing people’s private property.

We need to reduce our gas taxes and try to make oil trade freely  too to make sure that we can trade with members of OPEC without any price fees or whatever.

John Edwards Washington D.C. GOTV Plan

John Edwards has high hopes in Washington D.C. since very few candidates are putting effort into the primary. Edwards believes he has a good chance in the top three and may have a chance at first place in the primary but he believes his biggest opponents are John Kerry and Blanche Lincoln. Edwards is attacking Lincoln as a union buster which United Mine Workers of America also attacked her. Edwards main surrogate campaigning for him in Washington D.C. was Senator Mary Landrieu who held meet and greets and door to doors with volunteers to help Edwards. Edwards believes if he brings out enough support that he will be able to win but he thinks he will end in second or third since Kerry has such strong African-American backing.

John Edwards Iowa GOTV Plan

John Edwards believes that, like Washington D.C, he has a good chance for a spot in the top three but it isn't because no one is competing but because of his effort in Iowa. Edwards does believe that there is a slim chance he could win but he believes his lack of name recognition will cost him against a higher-profile candidate like Al Gore, Hillary Clinton and John Kerry which is why Edwards and his surrogates attacked them while raising Edwards pro-union position.

Edwards believes the key to victory in Iowa is with unions and working families. In 2000, almost 35% of the vote was union members and Edwards believes he can win more than half with his union supporters like the USW and UMWA which would be 17%. In a field this large with so many high-profile candidates, Edwards believes 17% is all he needs to win the race or end close. Edwards had staff and had USW and UMWA campaign for him trying to win union voters and working family voters even if they are not voters.

Edwards is also targeting college students which is why many of his rallies in Iowa were either in a college, high school or a union hall. Edwards also set up campaign headquarters near colleges to pull their vote out on caucus day.

A good showing in Iowa or Washington D.C. is crucial to Edwards path forward since he knows that he has no hope of a good showing in New Hampshire and he won't in South Carolina if he doesn't do well in any of the first three and Edwards needs a win in South Carolina and across the south which is why he had a southern tour before Christmas.

Pre-Iowa strategy for Vice-President Gore and Endorsers

In Iowa, the Vice-President will focus on stopping his 2000 voters from jumping ship plus winning some Bradley voters. He will focus for the groups which are most endangered (the African-American vote from Kerry, the female vote from Clinton, Shaheen, and Lincoln, and the rural, union vote from Edwards.) He will continue with his "our 21st century" message to appeal to the lower and middle classes, and will focus his speeches and rallies on his economic message to appeal to his 2000 caucus voters and hold a focus in the cities of Iowa in order to appeal to and get out former Bradley voters. The "Pride and Prejudice" and "America's Soul" will be playing strongly in the last few days. Strong canvassing will be done for Iowa in order for the Vice-President to win and carry the momentum to New Hampshire.

His endorsers will be focusing on specific groups. Senators Schumer and Biden will be campaigning all through the working class areas of Iowa and the main cities in order to weaken Senator Edward's showing, painting the Vice-President as the true working families' candidate and touting the economic prosperity under his leadership. The Senators are to attack Senators Edwards and Kerry the most out of the Vice-President's opponents, as well as commending the Vice-President on his military service. After the Iowa caucus, Senators Schumer and Biden will travel to New Hampshire and Delaware, respectively, to campaign for the Vice-President.

Secretary Albright will campaign in areas with a high urban or suburban female vote in order to make Vice-President compete the female vote, talking about his respect and support for women's groups and his scandal-free marriage to Tipper, talking about how he'll protect and better education and healthcare, bring our families home from Iraq, and touting his scandal-free, humble leadership. She will also campaign among the elderly, touting the Vice-President's position on social security. The Secretary is to attack Senators Clinton and Kerry for their position on Iraq and their out-of-touch leadership. Afterwards, the Secretary will campaign in New Hampshire.

Congresswoman McKinney will strongly canvass African-American and urban
areas and give speeches on how the Vice-President will protect the African-American community and his green agenda, urging Bradley voters to support him. The Congresswoman is to attack Senator Kerry on his flip-flopping, and on his falsely claiming to be the minorities' candidate.

LULAC will campaign all over Hispanic communities to urge them to support Al Gore as the minority-friendly candidate.

PEI will contest the union vote and tell voters that the Vice-President will give funding and respect to the government's vital programs, and will criticize Senator Edwards.

Pre-DC strategy for Vice-President Gore's Endorsers

The Vice-President's DC campaign will be a relatively light one. While there will be campaigning, it will not be as heavy as the one in Iowa or even New Hampshire. Before January 4, there were no visits scheduled from the Vice-President, but his endorsers will be in charge of the field campaign.

Senators Schumer and Biden will give a series of speeches and small rallies before their trip to Iowa. They will focus on turning out the government worker vote by promising that the Gore administration will be a sensible one for all government workers and will pay them well, as well as focusing on the proposed education and healthcare reforms, all while under the "Our Century" banner used by Gore, campaigning in Southern DC strongly as well as holding a few joint speeches with Congreswoman McKinney.

Congresswoman McKinney will be the main DC surrogate, focused on turning out the African-American and small-letter green vote for the Vice-President during the primaries. She will be in DC until her trip to Iowa on January 1st.

Second Lady Tipper Gore will make a short visit to DC from December 27 to December 30 focused on campaigning with the Senators and Congresswoman, making speeches on the "Our Century" theme, and volunteering in the campaign.

The "Pride and Prejudice" and "Our Century" ads will play extensively in DC.

DC GOTV Strategy for Senator John Kerry

The Kerry campaign believes that they are the front runner in the lead up to the D.C. Primary. He has the support of many prominent African Americans and African American groups, and believes that he will triumph here in the District and will win all over the United States. Reverend Jesse Jackson who was the Democratic Parties runner up in 1988 will be rallying and stumping for Senator Kerry across the city focusing on the African American population that makes up around 50% of the population in the District. Volunteers with the NAACP will also be passing out reading information and helping voters get to the polls in these minority neighborhoods. The target areas are Northeast and Southeast DC. While also stumping hard in the whiter richer neighborhoods in southern DC.

Iowa GOTV

Iowa is another state in which Senator Kerry believes he will have a very good chance at winning. with a number of high profile Iowans and national figures coming to stump for him in the state. Governor Vilsack will be focusing on negating President Gore's name recognition advantage as he is a very well known figure in the state he will be focusing on a strategy of optimism in the United States and "Help is on the way" He will also be highlighting the Senators heroic service in the Vietnam War.

Senator Kerry will be campaigning in the suburban regions of Des Moines, Davenport, and Sioux Falls. Where he believes that the suburban turnout will help him exceed the other candidates state wide. he will be appearing with all of his major surrogates.

Senator Harkin will be campaigning among the working class and union voters where he has run up the margins for decades. He will also be appearing in several joint rallies with both Governor Vilsack and Senator Kerry.

the AARP will focus their efforts on driving the turnout of elderly Democrats. They will be sending out mailing ads endorsing the Senator and touting his support for Social Security and Medicare along with his service as a war hero in the Vietnam war.

Finally, Senator Reid who is the Senate Minority Whip will be focusing on getting top level activists in the state to join the campaign and working to get state legislatures to endorse the Senator. He will also help on driving turnout in the rural areas and will spend half of the month in Iowa stumping and the other half laying the ground work for Senator Kerry's campaign in Nevada.

Rev. Jesse Jackson will make a 3 day sweep through Iowa along with a sea of NAACP mailing ads touting the Senators support for Medicaid and Medicare. and hoping to get the black vote our strongly for Senator Kerry as in such a close race it could make the difference.

Iowa strategy for Hillary Clinton

Iowa

Senator Clinton believes that at a minimum she can secure a top two finish in Iowa. In addition, a secondary goal, whether or not she wins the state, is to finish ahead of both Senator Lincoln and Governor Shaheen, in order to prove that she is the most viable female candidate. Iowa surrogates have been given instructions to attack both Shaheen and Lincoln, with emphasis on Shaheen, as her home state of New Hampshire is next, and Clinton would ideally like to prevent Shaheen from winning the state.

If Clinton does not win Iowa, the ideal situation is for either a John Kerry or a John Edwards victory.

Washington D.C
While Senator Clinton believes she can score a good finish in Washington D.C, she is not campaigning actively here, nor are her surrogates due to D.C's low amount of delegates. Clinton's primary goal, regardless of finish is to finish ahead of Senator Lincoln and Governor Shaheen, and the attacks made in Iowa are believed to be helpful in that regard.

The ideal situation for Clinton is that none of Gore, Shaheen or Lincoln win in D.C.

What Garvey did part 2

Garvey kept on campaigning in Iowa on his infrastructure plan and his plan to make Amercia more energy independence and not as reliable on foreign policy and proposed a tax reduction into the fuel and gas tax

Garvey also campaigned in Iowa on fixing Medicare by saying he would rather than cut it he would allow to inject private companies in and make the system more competitive.

Bill Clinton responds to Rudy Giuliani on experience, Detroit, Michigan

Mayor Giuliani, eight years as Mayor, even of a city as complicated as New York City, is far different than being President of the most powerful country on the planet. There are so many issues you deal with as Mayor that just aren't relevant on a national stage.

Besides, every other word out of your mouth is "noun, verb, 9/11". How do you think that would play out on the world stage, when we already have foreign governments who don't like us because of our cowboy diplomacy after 9/11/01.
