I admittedly didn't, welp. I'll eat my pie and slip on back into my partisan hack cave.

I do feel more fiscally murderous than socially murderous right now.

On a serious note... this is something very good, for very obvious reasons. Good work from everyone involved. I don't have much more to say.

So they say the worst crime is north or northeastern Omaha. Can you give further details for those of us looking at a map where the worst neighborhoods are deadman.

Edit. Is Carter lake bad, or a carved out island of habitability?

Holy $hit! It's part of Iowa?!?

22 murders is still a lot for a city of just 470.000 people.

Vienna had roughly the same amount of murders this year, but 1.9 million people - so the murder rate in Omaha is 4x higher.

Omaha has a Republican mayor and only a 4-3 Democratic city council.  It's one of the most conservative "cities" in the country.

And higher than NYC, with 278 murders for 8.6 million people.

There is a lot of gang crime in North Omaha.  Carter Lake is white trash (mobile home parks) that is starting to gentrify as "downtown" creeps closer.

101 days without a murder in a city of such size? Something must be going right!

Crime has been dropping ever since the 90s, due to a wide range of factors. This isn't said enough amid the continued scaremongering and 'tough on crime' freakout(just spouting 'tough on crime' without actually addressing the causes of crime is a sign of weakness, not strength, btw).

It's widely known that the murder rate everywhere in the U.S. is much higher than in pretty much every other developed country.

The cause of crime is criminals.

Mind = blown. Did Jordan Peterson teach you that?

Now for a fun question: what’s the cause of criminality? Hint: it’s rarely “moral failing.”

22 murders in the metro which is over 1,000,000. Not just the city limits. Unless I misread?

I'm not sure about that ... there are conflicting reports.

It could also be that all 22 murders happened in the city of Omaha, but no additional murders in the other areas belonging to the Omaha metro ...
