Pretty interesting - ÖVP support among the LGBT people is much lower than in the general population, while the FPÖ's support is much more balanced across the sexual orientations. Why is ÖVP so unpopular in the LGBT community - do they have a history of homophobia?

The ÖVP is the party of rural religious Catholics... so well.

LGBTQ+ people in the US isn't a heterogeneous political group either (pun sort of half intended), even though most of them fall with-in the big tent of the democratic party, but you get everything from your Mayor Pete is our sexy lord and savior centrist type to the Mayor Pete is a Conservative fraud and only Bernie Sanders can overthrow capitalist oppression socialist type...

As for the gay voters who votes for parties like the FPÖ or Sweden Democrats, they (based on my own non-scientific anecdotal experience) range from people who're mostly just worried about anti-gay sentiments among non-European immigrants, to people who're just plain racist. You don't really have to spend a lot of time on Grindr (or wherever the kids get their nudes these days) to realize that there are plenty of bigoted gay men out there.

As a matter of fact one of the first guys I went on a date with was an Australian exchange student who turned out to be an overt misogynist, who among other stuff claimed he only dated and slept with men because women were so "thoroughly disgusting" and spent a considerable amount of our date telling me how revolting Julia Gillard's body and personality was... Gays are not automatic angles is all I'm trying to say.

The current satellite picture shows nasty clouds in the South (FPÖ strongholds), but sunny everywhere else (especially in the ÖVP areas) ...

A sign from above. Tongue

I just saw a tweet online, where a guy posted the results of a town in Burgenland (and then deleted it again after 5 minutes, because he could be sentenced for posting results early).

If those results are true, we could see some surprises ... (the town only has 1.000 eligible voters though).

I realize it might be illegal for you to post the numbers in this thread, but would it be illegal for you to send them to me in a PM? Tongue

I won't risk it.

Right...

Then let me ask you another question, what sort of fruits would the people of a small town in Burgenland prefer, Black Berries, Red Apples, Blue Berries, Limes, Pink Cherries, or do they not care about the sort of fruit as long as they get it NOW?

What party is strongest in Burgenland?

Historically they're a SPÖ strong-hold.

Besides FPÖ+SPÖ+Pilz, the big losers are the pollsters this time.

I knew there was some herding going on ...

Yeah, one of the big stories is how the polls totally failed this time - vastly underestimating ÖVP and Greens, vastly overestimating the FPÖ, who have their worst result since 2006.

Pollsters are so used to underestimating the anti-establishment right-wing parties it does appear in a few places they've actually adjusted their methods too much, now overestimating those parties support.

It was the same in Sweden last year, the Sweden Democrats were actually overestimated by pollsters.

ÖVP will be the biggest party in both Burgenland and Carinthia, if they actually managed to top the polls in Vienna as well they'll be the biggest party in all states. Do anyone know if that has ever happened in a previous election since WWII?
