Another possibility is the fact that Virginia could legitimately be a competitive state in 2020.

I for one like her and think that she's underrated electorally, as long as she can stay focused on her message. FWIW I've heard she's pretty engaged in policy.

With all this analysis from both sides stating Warren has no chance at all, what makes her think she actually has a shot?

Something particularly present in politicians called "ego". She'd be a great President, but good God she can't campaign to save her life.

Yeah, no.

When Warren's focused on policy, she's fantastic. She's an excellent debater. But she flounders when addressing the whole Native American heritage thing, and she'll be bludgeoned with her insensitive and tone deaf handling of the issue both in the primary and the general elections.

To be honest, Clinton should have picked her for VP in 2016. 2017 and 2018 have not been good years for her personal image.

Warren would win Virginia by the same margin Clinton did.

Absorb all Berniebros if the Bern isn't running with some support from (mostly female) Clinton backers in 2016.

I think what most hurts her is being seen as a weak general election candidate, and we know from early polling that Democratic primary voters this time most care about the ability to beat Donald Trump rather than an ideological purist.

Elizabeth Warren is a bad candidate because she is:

*Goofy (she has a dopey/clumsy personality)
*Not a good speaker (she has frail, brittle voice)
*Not a good campaigner
*Bogged down the whole Native American DNA test nonsense
*She will be 71 years old in 2020 (Isn't the Democratic Party, the party of youth/younger people?)

I don't hate Elizabeth Warren and I think that she's perfectly fine as Massachusetts' senior senator. However, she should not run for President.

She should have ran against Clinton in 2016. It’s too late.

She was one of two incumbent Dems to do worse than Clinton. The other was Menendez

She got 60% of the vote. It's more that Clinton's margin was inflated by a Bill Weld being on the libertarian ticket.

Warren is excellent when it comes to policy, and writing/passing legistlation. A Senate Majority Leader is what Warren is. A President? Not so much. Shes just too wonky, and poorly spoken, and not really able to connect to the masses.

You know its a problem when you are the "Elitist" Candidate against Scott Brown(yes, that actually happened. She was lambasted as Elitist against Scott Brown in the state of Massachusetts).

Hear, hear.

Honestly, the Democratic field isn't very exciting. Biden is the clear favourite but, like Warren, he's quite old he would be almost 78 on election day. And Beto should wait a bit more. He's still young, he can run for the Senate again in 2020 or for Governor in 2022.

She would be the best president of the bunch so she has my support. You can learn to be a better campaigner, you can't just learn how to be a good statesperson and policymaker.

If she can get the right staff and practice the right things, she can become the Jed Bartlet of this election.

She would lose against Trump.

She might be able to get Michigan back but that’s it, and Arizona wouldn’t turn blue.  Pennsylvania and Wisconsin would stay Trump.  Florida certainly.

She would lose worse than Hillary.

Lol she would win New Hampshire

Ideologically, Warren may be my favorite Senator, and I think she’s highly capable and highly intelligent. I must echo everyone else’s concerns about her political skills and electability, though, which is why she would not be my first choice in the primary. I would still vote for her over Sanders or Biden, but not over Harris or Gillibrand.

I think maybe we should reserve some of our judgement until the primary really ramps up, though. She’s never been in a national race before and maybe she can surprise us, so I don’t want to write her off yet. But I’m skeptical.

Just about all of these points apply to Joe Biden and yet he's seen as a front runner?

This is actually very true. Watch Kamala Harris's speech to the Human Rights Campaign in 2017, where she sounds boring and stiff. Then watch her address to Netroots Nation in 2018, where she's personable, cracking jokes that feel authentic, and energetic. The point being that with practice you can drastically improve your speech giving and campaigning abilities.

That said, I don't think Warren's bad at public speaking or the people part of campaigning?

And his record is awful and toxic to progressives and women. I wish he would do the world a favor and says he’s not running.

Warren is too far to the left for your average WWC in Macomb, Erie, and the Iron Ridge.

Does anyone find Warren to be focus group tested? Starting see that criticism on twitter. I don't think that's one of her issues. I think she will come across as a know it all. I have no problem with that myself.
