This is a very bad idea.

I don't know how to feel about this.

I support a "woman's right to choose" but I don't think it should be a "(state) constitutional right".

I don't see any reason for a pro-choice person to oppose this, unless the wording is really strange or something.

Abortion being a "constitutional right" in of it self is really strange.

Why not?

I mean, if you support allowing abortion in some or all cases only as a sort of pragmatic compromise, then I get it.

But for anyone who supports women's reproductive autonomy as a matter of principle, it seems like exactly the sort of protection that needs to be constitutional.
It's just weird.

We should treat abortion as a dire, last option. Making it a "constitutional right" just feels too extra.

This and only legal during the first trimester unless it's a threat to the mother. It's not a right that should be protected by the constitution.

Friendly reminder of the status of abortion in the US pre-Roe v. Wade:

Yellow = Legal on request
Green = Legal in case of danger to woman's health, rape or incest, or likely damaged fetus
Purple = Legal in cases of rape
Blue = Legal in cases of danger to woman's health
Red = Illegal

And in the meantime they are going to pass a bill that would stop killing a fetus over 24 weeks from being prosecuted as homicide, even if the woman wants the baby, because muh women's right to choose

Agreed. The only way to prevent encroachment upon this human right is to make it a constitutional right, thereby practically eliminating chances for the rightwing to chip away at it.

Excellent news. Every precaution must be taken to defend bodily autonomy from anti-choice forces.
