After George Mitchell retired from the Senate in 1994, the election for replacing him as Democratic (and minority) leader was between Tom Daschle and Chris Dodd. Daschle was elected leader by one vote.

What if the vote went the other way and Dodd was elected Democratic (and minority) leader in the Senate? Would anything be different? Would he still run for President?
