Mind you the senate seat would be open in 2022 if Manchin wins and it is basically Safe R.

I suppose not, though I will admit I have an arguably illogical personal bias against politicians who do ... especially when they almost always change 90% of their views in the next session/Congress/whatever.  The way Justice did it was especially bad, though.
