perhaps somewhere like Butler Warren and Clermont in Ohio? Still a lot of manufacturing type jobs and an old fashioned economy and where people have money - but not to the extent of areas closer to the city (parts of Milwaukee County, Indian Hill).

I might add its also german in ancestry - although Cincy has more "old stock" germans while MKE has more post-civil war germans.

Cincinnati is a good pick. Indianapolis is also pretty good comparison. Maybe St. Louis.

Also of those are very different compared to say Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, or Minneapolis-St. Paul.

Cincinnati has a lot more ex-Southerners, though, which are a big part of what drives it so right-wing. (To a lesser extent, the same is true of Indianapolis.) And the most conservative Cincinnati suburbs are in Hamilton County proper (west of Cincinnati).

The Cinci suburbs are a very good comparison. Overwhelmingly Republican, and provide an inordinate raw vote share for the GOP in statewide elections.

Not to the same degree as the WOW counties in WI, but still a reasonable comparison.

Ocean County, NJ is suburban because almost all of New Jersey is, but it's quite different from WOW. WOW is the highest income best-educated part of Wisconsin. Ocean County is very blue collar, and has a lot of downscale retirees from the Northern part of the state.

FWIW, on the topic of upscale Republican suburbs: Orange County, CA was about 65% non-Hispanic white according to the 1990 Census - and it was still about as Republican as the considerably whiter "WOW" counties in WI are today.

Outside of certain suburbs in some of the larger metros ie. Chicago, Detroit, etc. that were already moving away from the GOP before Trump came along, I don't think most wealthy white Midwestern suburbanites are "trending leftward" overall. To the extent that longtime Republican voters are voting for Democrats, I reckon that's mostly a rebuke to the national party's "Trumpification" and Trump himself. Wealthy/elite Republicans who don't like Trump aren't becoming more left-wing!
