I wonder who would be a good running mate for Pete? His two biggest flaws are inexperience and lack of minority support. I can’t think of anyone off the top of my head that would address these issues
Tammy Duckworth.  Her qualities:

1. from flyover country
2. veteran
3. foreign policy knowledge
4. woman
5. minority
6. US Senator
7. fierce debater

Also much of that almost makes her criticism proof. I can just see Trump saying something offensive about her and it backfiring on him...until it gets forgotten about.

Even if we all agreed that was actually true, that's still not what a Republican is.

When they're both roadblocking progressive reforms, I don't care much about their differences. All GOPete would be is a less crappy Republican. We need to do better than that and him.

Dude, Pete would pass your progressive reforms lol, just not as many as say Sanders would try to do.

That's Pete. You know what we want to do? We want to repeal your "progressive reforms" that you've already passed. See: Obamacare (which we shouldn't just give up on btw, we still need to repeal and replace).

Please get the difference between left wing and center-right into your head. Thanks (and yes, Pete is left wing. He isn't even center left lol, he's just not far left like Bernie. I'd never vote for Pete).

Obamacare was literally what your far-right institutions like Heritage Foundation proposed in the 90's, full-stop.

Try again.

We proposed banning HRAs, not doing anything about trial lawyers, stopping people from buying insurance across state lines, banning catastrophic care plans, and stopping contracts that limit the amount companies must pay? Hmm.

Booker or Harris seems like solid options. But “lack of experience” is a non-starter anyway, when you are running against the least experienced and most incompetent president of all time.

Buttipete has purchased a 2 million $ ad for SC, the first TV-ad campaign there so far:

Buttipete has been present in SC with a 2 Mio. $ Radio ad the last week and now with a TV ad as well + he’s in the state as well right now.

Will be interesting to see what his numbers are like when everything settles and the polls come out in ca. 2 weeks ...

I'm pretty convinced pete doesnt actually care about race issues.

He might actually be the worst candidate in over 20 years

It's......ok. Pete can not deliver an inspirational message like Obama. It sounds....forced. Also, I'm not really sure a "coming together" message plays all that well in this political climate. He still has my support though.

He's a mayor.  He has negligible influence over education policy.

Why do people think it is a good idea to have another unqualified President?

Why do people think Pete will be President ? Look @ his 2nd choice numbers. He is 4th choice among both Black & Hispanic voters after Biden, Sanders & Warren. Apart from his qualifications, his record is controversial & there is no sign that anything he is doing is causing positive change. He has high unfavorables among Sanders' young voters & some of Yang's & Warren's young voters as well. How much more can ge go up by getting rich white conservative boomer votes? Unless he makes a breakthrough among black, Hispanic, young & working class voters, he has no chance. His coalition has no relation to the modern day Democratic party. Bideb is a 100 times more likely option than him. Bernie lost in 2016 despite making bigger breakthrough with young/Hispanic/working class/young African Americans & Pete has no appeal among 65-70% of the base or is probably disliked.

Lol, how is he unqualified? He’s probably the most intelligent person in the entire field.

Being a mayor, especially since he is mayor of South Bend, is not adequate preparation to be President of the United States.

Will be interesting to see what his numbers are like when everything settles and the polls come out in ca. 2 weeks ...

So in 2016 Dem Primary, according to the CNN Exit Polls, 61% were African-American and 35% Anglo-American....

SC DEM voting patterns have shifted dramatically in the past, most recently and famously in '08 where O'Bama was able to make his case against HRC....

Although I am skeptical that Mayor Pete will win SC, we cannot ignore the fact that despite he is predominately a candidate supported by Anglo Voters, at the same time it is not completely inconceivable that he might gain enough ground among Anglo Voters, especially if he performs well in IA and NH to be able to expand the terrain, and possibly make inroads among Black Voters, especially if Biden falters....

Currently Sanders looks to have about 10% support among Black Voters in SC, Warren at 8%, Harris at 6% (Although Harris likely won't last past Iowa)....

There are still votes up for grab in SC, both Black, White, Old Young, Working-Class, Middle-Class and Upper Middle-Class....

Odds are Mayor Pete will bomb in SC, but hell we still have a few states to go before that, so why not throw a few Million bucks into billing the rep as part of a national campaign, especially when you are peaking in national polls?Huh

Something tells me Pete is just the latest flavor of the Month, just like Harris and others before, but it still appears that there are quite a few DEM primary voters that haven't yet decided which bed they are going to sleep on a few weeks or the next few months down the line.... Wink

To be fair, Trump's presidency has been a disaster because he is an egomaniac who surrounds himself with people who affirm his lies, not because he is "unqualified."

There are many reasons that Trump has been a disaster, that's certainly a valid one, but being severely unqualified has been a factor that has hurt his presidency too.

The issue isn't that he's "unqualified". If that was an issue, Hillary would be president.

The issue is that his mayoral record leaves a lot to be desired, especially if you're progressive.

I don't think Hillary-level qualifications are essential. Many if the senators, eg Warren, are probably qualified. Obama may have been slightly inexperienced but overall was qualified for the presidency. I don't think Buttigieg is ready for the tremendous responsibility of the US presidency though, I don't see him as presidential right now.
