The author of this article is probably stuck in a bygone era (the 1990s-2000s) - back then, it probably made a lot of sense for Democrats to not run significantly to the left, but not now.

He would have stood a fair shot at winning in 2016. Not in 2020.

Yeah. A crowded field and "old guard" fatigue doesn't bode well for him

He is the best chance to beat Trump.

Maybe a generic Republican, you’d need a canidate other than Biden.

But look at this strategically: Trump has a unique appeal to WWC rural voters, the ones that took down the blue wall. Biden wins those voters almost definitely. If you want a pure Lefty don’t vote for him, if you want Trump to be a one termer - you vote for him

If he's the nominee I'll vote for him, but I'll do it without enthusiasm.

This and will do so with even less enthusiasm that I did when I voted Hillary in the 2016 general election.

Your confidence, despite a track record of being foolishly wrong, is very admirable.

I'm sure that Mr. Both Sides will appeal to Bernie primary voters in marginal democratic states.

The author is a former Republican who left the party when Trump became the nominee.

Biden seems like the best candidate to beat Trump.  Somehow, I don't think he really is.

I don't know who is either, all I know is Uncle Joe is a paper tiger. He has two laughably failed Presidential runs under his belt, too many seemingly uncomfortable touchy feely moments with numerous women and young girls, and has Anita Hill. On top of that, he's gaffe prone, granted not to the extent of Bush, Quyale, and Palin, but still gaffe prone and it seems like the more the speculation of him running intensifies, the more he puts his foot in his mouth.

Don't forget that he's been in the pocket of the banking industry for pretty much his entire career, and he's got the legislative record to show it.

More conservatives than progressives prefer Biden. Dems need a Y2K candidate, not someone older.
