Honestly even without the shutdown it’s doubtful that Trump wins more than 46% of the vote in VA

Seriously. I doubt the Trump campaign ever assumed they could win this state even before the shutdown occurred. Hell, his 2016 campaign already pulled out of Virginia several months before the election

Virginia is a swing state that has a ton of federal workers. Is the Trump shutdown enough to alienate them into voting for a Democrat?

No it isn't. The f**k.

He was obviously just kidding, sheesh.

Anyway, I get that people on this forum love to cling to their own little narrative even when all the facts and data points tell another story, but what is it with this eerie fixation on Virginia and West Virginia? Why is this so difficult to accept that these two states are simply no longer winnable for the other party? WV is Titanium R, VA is Titanium D, the end. VA is not "a Republican state at heart" and WV is not "a Democratic state at heart."

Virginia is long out of reach for Trump.

A guy like Kasich could win it but not Trump.

Does anyone really think voters in NOVA would prefer a racist/sexist/xenophobic candidate over a social democratic candidate? If so, please show me polls which support this idea.

Virginia has voted for the winner in 4/5 of the last presidential elections.

Virginia has voted for the winner in 4/5 of the last presidential elections.

The last time a Republican won the White House without VA when a Virginian wasn’t the Democratic running mate was in 1924.
