Virginia is a swing state that has a ton of federal workers. Is the Trump shutdown enough to alienate them into voting for a Democrat?

Virginia voted for the winning presidential nominee 4/5 times since 2000. Prior to this event it was a pure tossup for 2020.

Michael Bennet, the presumptive Democratic nominee, is refusing to accept his salary for as long as the government is shut down. Virginia will be a lock for him for as long as he continues this wonderful display of courage.

I could see Michael Bennet proving to be a very strong GE candidate given that the shutdown + his courage in relating to the poor squabbles of federal workers will allow him to lockup Virginia against Trump. At that point with Colorado and Virginia locked up, Trump will be in huge trouble.

Virginia isn't crucial or a swing state. It will vote for the dem with our without the shutdown (except if the Democrats nominate someone really terrible)

Hillary Clinton’s insider credentials from having worked in DC so much likely helped her hold Virginia. If Dems nominate somebody who’s far left and not from DC like Richard Ojeda or Jason Kander then I could see Trump carrying it easily.

Does anyone really think voters in NOVA would prefer a racist/sexist/xenophobic candidate over a social democratic candidate? If so, please show me polls which support this idea.

Virginia has voted for the winner in 4/5 of the last presidential elections.
