I suppose every cause is individual, though I have a two-year head start on you. 
I think the guy gave me weak ass pain pills, they didn't seem to help. Taking a couple Advil usually helped me a lot more. It was like a dull constant pain that just wouldn't go away.
My oral surgeon gave me a bottle of thirty Vicodin and thirty 800mg Ibuprofen, which really help keep the pain away without making me completely useless. So far I haven't had the need for any Vicodin.
