Why shouldn't two groups of intolerant religious fanatics who have spent years attacking democratic government get along?

Yet let’s ruin our diplomatic relationship with Iran. The GOP is simply a puppet for the Wahhabists.

Sounds great.  I was opposed to the invasion of Afghanistan back in 2001 as it was taking place.  We should have never been there.

Yeah, what did Obama do besides, you know, actually fostering the negotiations between Kabul and the Taliban? It’s not like the Taliban opened a consulate in Qatar in order to represent themselves on the global stage in 2015 or anything like that?

Someone must have pointed that out to Trump. It would explain equipment from his arms deals with the UAE and Saudi Arabia ending up with Al Qaeda.

No one wants to debate the merits of whether the US should "make peace" (awkward phrasing) with the Taliban? Because that would be a far more interesting conversation to me than the incredibly tired IMAGINE IF OBAMA HAD SAID THIS feigned incredulity.

Sceptical as to if this will actually happen but if it does it may be a good thing, the US has been in Afghanistan too long and there is little a continued presence will do to improve the situation there. As painful as it might be it's time to accept the Taliban aren't going anywhere and withdraw

yeah, it's not like future women born their ever had a chance anyway

Maybe someone else will try in another 100 years....won't work then either.  Is it the genetics of the humans that live there?  The religion?  The "culture"?  The environment?
