To all you conspiracy theorists claiming that Northam is behind it, clearly Fairfax’s brilliant mind is two steps ahead of yours.

Yeah but we've never really been in such "jump the shark" territory. The proverbial "shark" doesn't even cut it as an analogy anymore. It's more like "jumping the Megalodon," at this point.

It's the left. Politicians always had mistresses. Nobody cared. A dance contest 35 years ago? Who would have thought?

They're ransacking the past and trying to create this "pure" world, that doesn't exist, never did, and never will. Everyone will always have something to hold against them.

Leave them alone and let them do their god damn job. Enough.

Why doesn't he just say I didn't do it and it's a false allegation? Because it 90 % likely is. Fairfax is blowing it

Is Fairfax delusional?  Why is he blaming random Democrats?  For some reason he's pretty sure random Republicans aren't behind this?

Just because these claims come out at what appears to be a "convenient time" doesn't make them false. She deserves to be heard out and have her claims looked into. Fairfax is addressing these claims in a horrible way. An innocent man wouldn't be this much of a nervous wreck.

What makes her claim different than Blasey Ford’s?

Neither involved corroboration.

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Dyk9tPoXQAA64cV?format=jpg&name=small
She's making an allegation against Fairfax when he was an adult.

She knows when and where the alleged assault occurred.

Fairfax admits to spending the night with her.

They're members of the same political party, so this would not be a partisan smear.

Thanks for being the first person in a week to say something even more stupid than Fairfax and Northram.

Brett Kavanaugh is on supreme court, he was confirmed despite accusations because it was (mostly) he said she said
Same will happen here. Fairfax will become Governor and will win comfortably in 2021 in the Massachusetts wannabe State of Virginia.

Sure, that's absolutely true of you. More hypocrisy and this time over an unsubstantiated claim.

Of course he doesn't believe it.  I know that.  He knows that.  But what you have here is the result of uncritical acceptance of every allegation of sexual assault being the standard as to how allegations are to be responded to.  He's holding the left to their own standard, and while I'm realistic here, I'm not at all unhappy to see some folks squirm as they reap what they have sown.

Is this an organized "hit" to discredit a whole set of Democratic officeholders to the point where Republican Kirk Cox ascends to the VA Governorship?  I certainly think that's possible.  But it is pretty amazing how many Democratic officials are out on a limb for Fairfax, who is one of the few who DIDN'T call for Northam's resignation.

At the end of the day, if there’s one thing this proves it’s that Republicans are scum. Unnecessary though, because there was already a huge preponderance of evidence.

Uhh, I'm speaking of the fact that she contacted the Washington Post about this more than a year ago as they have confirmed. The first mention of his name was not all of a sudden when Ralph Northam was about to resign allowing Fairfax to ascend. There is no conceivable motive to spread false rumours about a powerless lieutenant governor who was not even considered the obvious 'next in line' to be governor. It would be a bit sketchy if the first mention of his name was yesterday as he was potentially ascending to the governorship and the Democratic Party was trying to determine if the guy in front of him needed to step down on a quick timeline. But yesterday was not the first mention of this by name. We have a record.

If the allegations aren't true, this is a terrible and unfair situation for Fairfax. However, he has handled it poorly, with conspiratorial allegations against Northam and against Richmond Mayor Levar Stovey, another African American man under the age of 40 who might plausibly run for Governor.

Quiet, professorlike Mark Herring being behind this all as a long-game plan to take the Governorship is the conclusion to this whole affair we deserve.
Best move for the Democrats might be that Fairfax steps aside, Mark Herring is appointed Lieutenant Governor, Northam steps aside, Mark Herring becomes Governor, and promising Democrats are appointed Lieutenant Governor and Attorney General.

The key difference is that Blasey Ford told a therapist about the attack years before Kavanaugh even was nominated for the court. Besides that when papers decide not to run a story it is usually for a good reason.

But Republicans need to remember that they have to get rid of the state Attorney General too to push the Republican Speaker of the House of Delegates into the Governor's seat.
This probably isn't a Republican coup since the woman who says she was sexually assaulted appears to be a Democrat in good standing.

However, the party would benefit from a toxic Democratic Governor with state legislative races in 2019.

More than one person accused Kavanaugh. With that said Kavanaugh was put on the court so Republicans have nothing to still be angry about. And again, Blasey Ford actually communicated her story to others years before she even came forward.
Kavanaugh really only had one serious allegation.

Most of the other claims fell apart.

Deborah Ramirez didn't ever see Kavanaugh do the thing she thinks he did, and no one has come forward as a witness. I don't think she'd be allowed to testify against in a civil trial given the lack of corroboration, and the fact that her main claim is hearsay (what she heard someone else- she doesn't know who- say at the party).

Huh? This proves many things, but one strains to see how that is one of them.

I think Fairfax should resign, preferably after Northam. I was on the fence before, but his response has been atrocious and does not speak to his story's credibility.

Hey, I'd trade a Fairfax governorship for endless partisan hypocrisy each time this happens and the end of anyone taking #MeToo as a remotely serious movement. Shame that Al Franken has to be a casualty though, among many other Greats.

But I obviously want Northam to stay and Fairfax out immediately

So he should get his name on the record book of governors of old Virginia, eh?

So THAT'S what this is all about for you, eh?  You (and every other man like you) want to turn back the clock, and to able to once again sexually harass women in real life and for them to keep their pie holes shut for fear of social repercussions, just like it was before the #MeToo movement?  You disgust me as a person.

Oh, and go ahead and report this post.  It was worth it taking your mask off for all the world to see.
