Streeter won the county in 1888 despite getting forth place (1% of the vote) statewide. Weaver won it in 1892, and Bryan got 61% in 1896, his highest percentage in the state. Does anyone know the early history of this county, and why it voted so different from neighboring counties? Was there some sort of religious cult or political group based there? I can't find much online but it does fascinate me.
