I'm no fan of Joe Biden, but before integration there certain black neighborhoods where wealthy or middle class black people lived, and they ran their own businesses, had their own stores and banks, their own schools, and this was a source of some pride. When integration hit, some of these neighborhoods hollowed out when the families that could afford to moved to whiter neighborhoods.

It's kind of how like the Chinatowns are hollowing out today is a source of sadness for some Chinese Americans. We are assimilating into the broader society, but from a certain perspective there is a cost.

Biden should follow his own advice (regarding the Northam case) and stay out of the race.

Then again such is the story of American life and society...Ex. Little Italy's also used to be widespread covering whole sections of cities like New York, but most have wethered with assimilation. Once a group becomes accepted by wider society, then it loses some of its cultural uniqueness for better opportunities.

But I thought he was the best candidate ever and would have crushed Trump in 2016.

That too. There's a whole list of stuff that disqualified him for me a long time ago.

Biden was a great VP, but he will be a disaster candidate. Call it a career man.

If Biden was really racist, he would not have accepted to be Barack Obama's running mate in 2008.

Without any hesitation. Hillary is flawed, but she is way better than Biden could ever hope to be.

If Biden was really racist, he would not have acdepted to be Barack Obama's running mate in 2008.

But that isn’t the real issue here.

Wait... some people are actually surprised by this? Have you guys never actually looked into Biden’s record? The man’s a disgrace. He should just leave his legacy as quirky Uncle Joe that was cultivated as VP and back away slowly before he has his own MeToo moment as well.

That doesn't say anything about whether or not he is racist, it just says that he didn't turn down a golden opportunity. There are plenty of racist people who don't allow their bias to interfere with their career.

White people generally think racism is a white and black issue (no pun intended). There is TONS of grey area and nuance. Biden can absolutely support racist policies in the name of bipartisanship and accept Obama’s offer.

I don't see what Biden said is bad.

A lot of black people don't like integration because they do believe in black empowerment, etc.

I don't understand why this is so offensive.
