After coming in second for the Democratic nomination in 2020, former Congressman Beto O'Rourke ended up defeating Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio Cortez and Governor Gavin Newsome for the Democratic nomination for President in 2024. On the Republican side Senator Ted Cruz ended up defeating Vice President Mike Pence in the Iowa Caucuses and ended up defeating Ambassorder Nikki Haley and former Governor Charlie Baker for the Republican Nomination. Trump's approval ratings remain in the low to mid 40s and Trump ends up doing a few rallies for Cruz in the general election and both him and Pence gave Cruz great speeches at the RNC, however like in both 2016 and 2020 the Democratic nominee for President is ahead in the national polls.
