Thankfully, it doesn't appear that any of those two are running.

I don't think Hood will have a problem winning the primary.

Hood is probably the best candidate for the GE, but an embittered primary fight could drive down black turnout. His ceiling is around 47% any way, so it doesn't really matter. Anyone thinking a Democrat is getting above 50% in MS (what he would need according to state laws) is on crack.

LMAO this poll is from February of last year. And it's against two people who aren't running. Hood's gong to win the primary easily.

Why? IMHO - it's normal ideology of Southern Democrat, or even pragmatic Southern Republican (many of which in state legislatures are exactly former Southern Democrats).

im pretty sure yall politics is the pollster that had a poll with a 18% black electorate. I throw them in the trash but I still think Hood could lose this primary. Hood needs important black endorsements such as Bennie Thompson.

And if Hood loses - Republicans may begin to celebrate immediately. Smith is unelectable. Even pragmatic and vey moderate liberal Espy couldn't..... It's probably about 15 years before  Mississippi will vote for Black Democrat for statewide post...

Hood will NOT lose the Dem Primary for MS Governor. I see Hood winning somewhere around 64% to possibly 70+%.

Not even close. Eric Cantor’s poll was off by like 70 points in 2014
