Schumer is recruiting Amy Mcgrath for the senate race in KY

this is really gonna hurt dems

One of the D's most hated R senators? Check
Female Army veteran who might be able to slightly outperform the partisan lean? Check
Great Fundraiser? Check
Extremely Republican State which Trump won by 30 points? Check

What does this all sum upto?

A money sink for the D's where the D fundraising base will dump money into yet Mcconell still wins by 15+ points because its Kentucky.

Any half-decent candidate who runs against McConnell will raise millions from a national Democratic base. Might as well run one of the best we got while we're at it.

For what its worth, a not insignificant chunk of Kentucky's voters live in the Cincinatti suburbs (in the Cincinatti media market) where Sherrod Brown is probably known and liked. Having him on the ticket probably provides a boost to Dems, even if it's a small one.

We have more than enough money anyway. And any challenger to McConnell would be able to get money off of running against them if they were even remotely competent at promoting themselves.

Even though McGrath narrowly lost last year, she'd still have a much better chance of winning KY-06 than winning statewide. At least KY-06 could flip in a massive wave, whereas McConnell would still easily win (likely by double digits.)

Jesus the negativity is embarrassing. Ofc she's gonna lose, but she'd expose and embarrass him on the campaign and in the debates more than anyone else so its worth it. Same thing with SC.

McGrath couldn’t win KY-06 in a massive Democratic tsunami, and McConnell is a fierce campaigner and not the type to be caught asleep at the wheel. I don’t even buy that she’d be the best Democratic recruit for this race.

Safe R, and yeah, KS and SC are more likely to flip than KY.

Safe R unless Matt Jones is the Democratic nominee, in which case it's Likely R. McGrath wouldn't be able to run effectively against McConnell with the strategy she used in 2018 (only running positive ads and not running attack ads).

Safe R->Safe R

McConell probably wins by 15 or something like that. Best case scenario is what, a 9 point victory?

No way the Senate Majority PAC will treat McConnell with kiddy gloves.

If there was ever a small chance to oust McTurtle, it was in 2008. Still hope he gets primaried.

McConnell would have lost in 2014 if Romney was president.

LOL no, maybe he would have only won by an '08 type margin, but there's no way he would have lost.

I still think there's a possibility that McConnell will change his mind about running again and he'll retire, like Orrin Hatch changed his mind. McConnell could change his mind after seeing this year's gubernatorial election result.
