Socially the '50s were the most conservative. Economically, the 2000's were the most, or a better way to put it would be the most laissez faire decade post WWII. Regardless, the 90's were the least of the conservative of the bunch, though the '60's, '70's, and even the 2010's were far more liberal.

In terms of momentum, the 1990s, when incarceration rates rose at an unprecedented rate, a Democratic President deregulated, reformed welfare, and almost privatized Social Security, and there was a hysterical fear of teenagers.

The 1950s are pretty overrated in terms of conservatism even in terms of social issues. The Nation Moved to the left on Social Issues throughout the 1950s while in the 1980s and 2000s it was clearly the opposite. On Economics it was clearly more liberal than any decade since the 1980s .

Its just that it was the only decade in its era that wasnt liberal(1930s, 1940s, 1960s, and 1970s were all liberal) which makes it seem more conservative than now and  people doing direct comparisons in terms of social issues(which is hilariously a bad standard because by that definition the 1910s were conservative as well lol).

I would argue though the 2000s is number one because :

- It was by far the most economically conservative decade since the 1920s

- You arguably had the most socially conservative president we have ever had(At Least in past 100 years), and on social issues the nation moved to the right even in Democratic Wave Years . Remember Prop 8 in CA passed in 2008.

- The Neo Cons were able to remake US foreign policy in such a way that Realpolitik was viewed as a center-left position if not leftist position in the 2000s

- It was probably the most patriotic or jingoistic (what ever word you wanna use for this) decade we have had since the 1940s

Question is meaningless, any answer will also be meaningless.

This question can basically be rephrased as "which decade came before the other decades?"

Actually the most conservative decade is the 90s because that's when the most Ukrainians emigrated to the US.

The 1980s-2000s were more conservative than the 1930s-1960s by a long shot. The most liberal decades since 1900 were the 1910s, 1930s, and 1960s by a landslide.

Depends on whether they were from the West or from the East.

Which we know not to be true, as 1980-2003 was regressive and things that were once considered progressive (eugenics, prohibition) no longer are.

I'd say the 2000s. It was the first Republican trifecta since the 1950s. That trifecta allowed for No Child Left Behind, the Bush Tax Cuts, and the Iraq War among other things. Prior to the Bush-era the religious right didn't have a man in the White House. You could make an argument for the 1990s, but the first half of the decade had a Democratic Congress which accomplished a lot of progressive legislation (ADA, the early 90s tax increases) and the latter half with a popular 2 term Democratic President.

I'll say the 1980's. Reagan's presidency brought legitimacy to conservative ideology in a way that no other person had done before.

During Clinton's Presidency, the main opponents of standardized testing were Gingrich and Dole. It was only when Bush 43 announced his platform for President that the GOP started supporting standardized testing.

I feel like people make the mistake of going by who was President rather than by who was getting stuff done. For example, the years in which Nixon was President were far more liberal than Nixon himself was and the 1990s were far more conservative than the Clintons.
