If true the US should respond by recognizing all of Kashmir as being part of India, similarly like they did with Jerusalem.

Twin attacks along both the Iranian and Indian borders. I think the Pakistani Military Establishment is trying to use this to exert leverage over the civilian Government.

That's why the US should come out and recognize all of Kashmir to be part of India and to threaten  Pakistan to withdraw from Kasmir or agree to become an enemy of the US .If the World's Oldest Democracy and most Powerful Nation Teams up with a Rising Power and the most populous Democracy to fight them then they are screwed and would be forced to reform.

China will still back them up. They view Pakistan as a critical part of both the Belt-and-Road Initiative and a partner to contain India.

Though Pakistan may fear the US+India more even with China.

But on the flipside the timing is perfect. Pakistan has leverage over the USA via their assistance with peace negotiations with the Taliban in Afghanistan.

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia continue to cement their places as countries the US should denounce and distance itself from, but given the ramifications of doing so....our hands are basically tied.

Hopefully economic development in Pakistan helps end a lot of this nonsense, so the US should continue to invest in S Asia for that reason.
